Just Simply Perfect!!
I purchased the kindle version of this book first - very good. But after looking through it, I just had to have the printed book as well, and I could not be more happy. The e-book format does not do this guide justice. As for the content: The “layout” is superb. The photography shows each Canid covered in the guide from a different angle. And a wealth of information fills the pages. Cover to cover it is just beautiful - I understand it is meant for use as a “Field Guide” - But if you have an interest or are fascinated by these animals, then this is the book to purchase. You truly get a feel of respect the Author has for these creatures, and the time / care he gave to each page. Highly Recommend.

Great Review of Living Canids
A well illustrated field guide to the worlds' canids. A very interesting book though rather than domestic dogs, western coyotes, foxes and and with perhaps a wolf in Yellowstone, and other than at the zoo, I doubt I will need to identify many of these animals.

Good first try but incomplete
I like this guide, as I liked the previous guide by this author (Bovids of the World), because they aggregate a great deal of natural history information on the covered species. However, a significant portion of the book is missing, at least in my copy pages 169-184 are not included.

Beautiful photos and great details!
An absolutely excellent book as either field guide or reference. The photos are magnificent and the information concise and up-to-date. It was delivered very promptly.

Just beautiful
Beautiful book about an interesting group of animals: the Canids.Lots of beautiful pictures which show you the differences between the species and subspecies.Awaiting now for the Felines of the World in the same style as Bovids of the World and Canids of the World. One remark: why has the Bovidsbook a glossy cover and the Canids a matt cover?I know, it is not really important, but as a graphic designer it annoys me a little.

Fine canid guide
I rather like this book. It's quite high-end, a serious field guide for serious wildlife-watchers. The illustrative content is photographic, with numerous images cut out on a white background. This approach isn't for everyone, but it works pretty well. The coverage is excellent, and the text is well written. Recommended.
