Rough Country 1.25" Body Lift Kit for 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ - 1157

great TJ jeep body lift kit. simple. easy install. did it in the driveway by myself in about 2 hours. Instant clearance and better looks. didn't have to do any crazy additional parts or mods. shifter and 4x levers still work perfectly. only had to adjust fan shroud, as expected. almost 2 years later still no problems.

I installed this on a 2000 TJ, 4.0L with manual 5sp, which already had a 4" suspension lift. I'm preparing to upgrade from 33" to 35" tires in the near future. All the pieces I needed were included (note that I simultaneously installed the JKS 1" Motor Mount lift kit, so I didn't have to mess with the linkage adjustments or trimming the fan shroud as the motor maintains reasonable alignment). The body lift install goes very quickly, say 60-90 minutes, even without hurrying. However, if you do the motor mount lift right after the body lift, watch out. It took 3 hours all by itself as it has tough bolts in tight places! The only issue, which is well documented on the internet, is that with a body lift (even worse without the motor lift), the shifting of a manual transmission into the gears 2, 4, and R is difficult. The shifter doesn't have enough clearance to move far enough rearward to fully engage the gears. Fixes include moving the console back about 1/4", trimming the inner shifter boot, and/or removing the inner boot altogether. I have not done these steps yet since the shifting works, albeit in an obstinate way.

This was my first time installing a body lift. I’m overall very happy with the product and instructions. However, their solution for the fan shroud is very crude. Many other kits include brackets to lower the shroud. This kit wants you to make new holes after you remove the shroud. That’s required extensive time to remove the shroud, only to not have room for new holes where they want you to drill. They also want you to cut the shroud for clearance. In the end, I just used self tapers and made my own mounting points. Dealing with the shroud took longer than the rest of the project. Overall I’m happy.

Looks good. It took me about 45 mins in my drive way. Super easy

No real difficulty to install, just take your time, be methodical

One thing to note when doing the lift, don't remove all of your bolts at the same time. Loosen them all but only remove one side. Don't forget there's two in the rear up by the shock towers. Loosten your fan shroud as when you lift the vehicle it could break the vanes. Do one side at a time so you don't misalign the body to the frame. I didn't run into any issues except for my spare tire carrier latch into my tail gate.

Just needed a little lift for the 33" tires on my Jeep TJ Instead of a changing springs or adding spacers this body lift kit did the job in only a couple of hours.
