Silicon Power 2TB Rugged Armor A62S Shockproof/ IPX4 Water-Resistant/Dustproof/Anti-Scratch USB 3.0 2.5" External Hard Drive

This is exactly as the description describes it. a very durable and long lasting external hard drive that i use constantly for my job. I work in rugged areas and not very forgiving environments so having something that can take a beating and still work with no issues is a must. I have (not on purpose) dropped this several times on gravel, concrete, and dirt and not once had any issue with it performing the same way it did when i pulled it out the box. The included 3.0 USB cable makes any large or small transfers to or from it very fast. Only issue i have found with this is the USB cable is short and does not hold very well in the rubber holders manufactured into the sides. Other than that i would highly recommend this product not only for the durability and speed but also for the price of the drive in comparison to any other external drive i have found on amazon.

I've had this 2TB shock proof device since Sept 2018 and it is still working solidly. I don't use it super frequently, but mostly for occasional backups of my work computer. I'm not hard on devices, but this is a great unit that has been rugged, reliable and portable. I have purchased 5 Silicone Power(SP) devices in various sizes and protection levels that I use often, and I can say that the Silicone Power Rugged series of drives is my go to option for working drives when going on the road or when I'm in environments that I wouldn't want to take most hard drives. I stand by this brand and of the 5 different size/style SP Rugged drives I have purchased since 2015, none of them have failed me yet.

Silicon Power gets my vote for the best digital storage solutions on the market! This is the second unit I have gotten. The first one I bought a few years ago for travel and was a 1TB unit. As an underwater photographer I need to free up my memory cards for each dive. With this unit I upload my picture files to my laptop, then to the SP drive. That way I have two copies, one on my computer that I can edit, and the other is backed up on this solid state drive. Even if my laptop is stolen (God forbid), I haven't lost any of my work. I bought the first one after my camera was stolen ( I work a lot in 3rd world countries) and I lost the last day of pictures which could never be replaced. I now use it as storage for my older laptop and use the new 2TB one for storage on my newer machine. These are military grade, a little larger than a pack of smokes, and have no moving parts to break. They are rugged and small to pack. Why would you risk someone hacking your files from the cloud when you have a better, safer alternative? 5 Stars all the way!!!

Lightweight, slim, easy to set up, incredibly fast file transfers, works perfectly! The convenient design that allows the USB cable to attach to the outside of the case is great - when it stays in place. I love the idea, but I wish it held more securely. Yet, it still better than almost any other option out there. Being "military grade shockproof", however, is a real stretch of the imagination. As a 12 year military veteran, I might feel okay if it fell off my desk, but I doubt it would hold up in other 'military' environments. But if you can learn to be careful with your iPhone X, I'm sure you can be trusted with this hard drive. Bottom line: would I recommend? Absolutely! (The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars was due to the imperfect USB cable storage and the military-grade claim.)

I purchased this 2.5 years ago to use with my Surface and it’s been fantastic, knock on wood. It’s small, fits perfectly in my computer bag, fast and accurate transfers to and from this drive. I’ve dropped it, traveled extensively with it and put a ton of data on it. It works so well I’m here to buy a larger volume drive and looked this purchase up so I can get this one in a larger size. Absolutely zero complaints

The unit is as rugged and compact as advertised. The USB 3.0 is very quick. We are using this to act as a second back up of documents and it is working flawlessly. I plugged it in and it came right up. The cord hooks into the case easily and is very convenient for carrying it off site. I was a little cautious because a low price can sometimes indicate low quality. .That is not the case here. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it without hesitation.

I love these drives. I now own three of them. I love that they don’t require a separate power cable. I love the rubberized sides so they can take some light dropping without breaking. I love that the little USB cord grips onto the side. It’s easy to hand this off to someone without having to separately bundle up and rubber band a cord. It’s all one nice handy package and it talks to my PC and my friends’ Macbooks without any trouble after I formatted it to exFAT. If this form factor came in bigger sizes like 8 TB, I would buy one in a heartbeat. In the meantime, I’ll settle for three of these 2 TB ones.

Ordered 6 years ago... It's still going strong. Been in my pocket through all types of Georgia weather. Been dropped too many times to count. Had a bucket of slime dropped on it. Only cleaned it with water and sometimes hot water.

Overview Note: I do not use this as part of my backup/redundancy setup. I have a NAS setup for that. I basically use this to transfer large files from my work laptop to my home computer and to do remote back up for my camera when I am on a photography outing (with no cloud). It’s great for files that are too big for remote networks, or conventional thumb drives. I have had it for 6 years with no issues…and I don’t baby it. Not as fast as SSDs, but more reliable (when an SSD drive fails…all is lost!) Pros • Built like a tank. Very reliable… Cons • Data transfer is not the fastest.
