Advantage II Large Cat Vet-Recommended Flea Treatment & Prevention | Cats Over 9 lbs. | 1-Month Supply

I like to know things. One question I had was how in the *#*@ does an indoor cat get fleas? I looked it up and it's a lot more common that one might think. Fleas are jumpy little things that find their way onto shoes, clothing, and other things people bring home with them. Unless one never leaves their house, there's a very good chance of bringing fleas in with you without ever knowing. Long story short, once I noticed the fleas, I took steps to get it under control. A flea comb is essential! My vet recommended a topical, so I spent the big money and went with a FRONT of the LINE solution. It was supposed to be the best in the biz. I followed the directions and it did absolutely **nothing** for my cat. I was still combing live fleas out of her by the hundreds. It was a total waste of money. A week later I applied another dose of the FRONT of the LINE topical. Again, it did absolutely **nothing** for her. After which, I tried a flea spray to no advantage. She hated it, it smelled terrible, and because she hated it, I couldn't get it far enough into her long fur for it to do any good. We ended up using the spray on our furniture and her carpets. We did NOT want to put her in the bathtub. I mean, if you've ever bathed a cat in less than a full suit of armor, you know what I'm talking about. I purchased a dry flea & tick shampoo along with the same brand of spray. The waterless flea bath "does" kill fleas after a few seconds in the foam, but she hated it so much her behavior changed drastically. Drastically enough that it scared the crap out of me. She stopped coming in the living room, stopped perching on the back of my chair, wouldn't jump on me for cuddles, was lethargic, and stopped sleeping on my chest after I went to bed. She wasn't acting like herself. At. All. That said, I was still combing live fleas out by the dozens. That number would have been a lot higher but since she was already not acting like herself, I didn't want to stress her out even more by doing more combing. Enter Advantage II Large Cat. I always do a lot of research before using a new product. I had seen the nightmare reviews of skin burns and worse. Even so, there were a lot more good reviews than bad...and I was getting desperate. Using the Advantge II Large Cat was my 2nd to last resort. IF it didn't work, she was going to get a water bath...and I don't have a suit of armor. I was looking as forward to doing that as I would look forward to dragging my body over razor wire...which is essentially the same thing. I am very happy, thrilled in fact, to report that this product worked beautifully! I properly applied the product on 10/29/25 at 3pm. I was very careful to make sure I parted her long fur enough for it to get on her skin. The product takes a full 12 hours to reach is max potency. After 12 hours, I was coming less live fleas from her. It is now 10/31/25 and at last combing, there were NO live fleas. Zero. Ziltch. Nada. Her behavior is returning to normal, she's not scratching/biting like a little banshee anymore, and she had no adverse reactions to the product. I will continue to be diligent with the flea comb to see if she needs another treatment next week. Knowing what I know now, I wish I wouldn't have wasted my money on the FRONT of the LINE solution and used Advantage II Large Cat from the get go. I could have saved my cat and myself a lot of undo stress and worry. I highly recommend this product. Note: If one is worried about their cat's skin, I recommend using one or two drops to "test" how your cat will react to it before giving the full dose.

TL;DR: Works quickly, easy to use, and stopped a full flea flare up in a day without turning it into a huge chore. We grabbed this during a sudden little outbreak, and I was honestly relieved at how simple it was to use. The tube opens cleanly without splattering, and the liquid goes right onto the skin without any fighting or trying to part the fur forever. Our big cat barely reacted, which made the whole thing easier. What stood out most, though, was how fast it worked. By the next day, the scratching had almost completely stopped, and the fleas we saw earlier were gone. There’s something comforting about using a product that doesn’t need tricks or follow up treatments right away. It just gets in there, does the job, and lets the whole house calm down again. I also appreciate that it’s unscented. No strong chemical smell lingering on the cat or in the room. As the days went on, the difference stayed steady. It didn’t irritate his skin or leave any oily patch that lingered forever, which sometimes happens with other treatments. This one soaked in cleanly and didn’t bother him at all. It feels like a reliable tool you keep on hand just in case, and it’s reassuring knowing you’re using something vet recommended with ingredients that have been around for years. There’s a good sense of trust that comes with that. What I like most is the peace of mind afterward. Once it kicked in, the whole flea situation was just done, and that kind of quick resolution is worth a lot. It’s the kind of product you’re grateful to have on hand before a problem turns into a bigger headache. Tip: Apply it when your cat is relaxed and already settled so the dose goes on smoothly without any twisting or fussing. Don't let them flick their head and splash it in your eyes! Advantage II is the best! Avoid the cheaper versions. There is another Advantage product that is a little cheaper, but this one is the best. It sticks to the skin and works its way into your cat’s bloodstream. Once in the bloodstream, the fleas and ticks are gone. They cannot live on your animal’s skin like they did days before. Apply it once a month to the back crevice of the neck. Rub it in real good, and don’t wipe it off. It will eventually not be there once it’s inside your cat’s body. Fleas and ticks will be gone. Your cat will be happy.

This flea treatment works fairly well overall, especially for controlling active flea problems. After applying it, I noticed a reduction in fleas within a day or two, and it continued to help keep them under control for a few weeks. I’ve used Advantage II Large Cat Flea Treatment & Prevention for my cats, and it has consistently worked much better than the cheaper options you can buy at the grocery store. I tried switching to a less expensive brand for a while, but my cats got fleas again, and it did absolutely nothing to stop, prevent, or treat the problem. Once I went back to Advantage, the issue was immediately resolved. It’s effective, reliable, and easy to apply, which makes the process much less stressful for both my cats and me. My only complaint is the price I wish it were more affordable but honestly, it’s the best flea treatment I’ve used, and it’s worth it for how well it works.

PROS: works well, appropriate for large cats, easy application, ability to buy in bulk CONS: expensive, sometimes applicator breaks, stinky smell! I first purchased this product in August 2015, Again in Janurary 2016, and I just purchased this again (July 2016). I purchased this product to help control fleas on my two cats, one of which is an indoor/outdoor cat. The neighborhood I live in has terrible fleas, so using flea medication is essential. The product arrived quickly, and came with thorough instructions, which I skimmed. The medication comes in a tiny tube incased in a foil packet. I opened the packet, and took out the tube. You break the seal on the tube by inverting the cap and puncturing the seal. I did this and accidentally twisted, causing the point on the top of the lid to become lodged in the opening of the tube. This was stressful because each treatment is so expensive. I realized, however, that I could fish out the point with some tweezers and still use the product! I then pinned my cat down and applied the product to the back of their neck. While I did see a decrease in fleas, I still saw several. I increased application to once every two weeks, and added baths and flea combing to the regime. Eventually, I was able to apply only once a month. During the summer the flea population seems to increase, which also coincided with my adoption of a second cat. I noticed the cat came in with fleas and I applied this medication, but it didn't seem to do much. I then woke up one morning with about 30 flea bites covering my lower legs and feet! I was horrified, and I knew it was time to get serious! After a bit of research I realized apart of why the medication may have been ineffective previously was that I wasn't applying it correctly (ha! Thats what i get for skimming!) Rereading instructions, I realized that I need to part my cats fur and try to make skin contact with the medication. I also learned that if my cats lick it it will taste bitter, discouraging licking behaviors of the medication. I'm going to include a few steps I took to control fleas in my house, unrelated to this product, but I think it might be useful! Scroll down to my conclusion if uninterested :) Anyways, so my cats hate baths (they were both rescued and are older so its hard to introduce new behaviors, I mean, I'm no jackson galaxy) For this reason flea baths always stressed me out and I was worried about my cats catching a cold or licking the flea shampoo and getting sick.Instead of bathing my cats, I gave them a pill that will kill all the fleas on them within 6 hours( https://www.amazon.com/Novartis-Capstar-Flea-Tablets-Count/dp/B005Z6UL1M/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1469319334&sr=8-2&keywords=flea+killer+pill). Using this pill in conjunction with this treatment, was a life saver! The next thing I did was give my pets a dry, diatomaceous earth bath. If you choose to do this with your cats, make sure you use food grade DE. DE is a great natural alternative for flea control, but the dust can be damaging to yourself and your cats! To prevent this, I wore a bandana around my mouth, and I stuck a comfy cone on my cat ( https://www.amazon.com/Comfy-Cone-E-Collar-Large-Black/dp/B000XY7CKE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469319818&sr=8-1&keywords=comfy+cone). My cats didn't like it, but it was safer and easier than flea baths! I also put some apple cider vinegar diluted with water in a spray bottle, and I sprayed down my cats. They hated this, but I think it maybe helped the fleas? It also reduced dust from the DE. CONCLUSION: I think that all cat owners should use this product on their cats, even if their cats are indoor cats. an inch of prevention is worth a pound of solution, and this is especially true for fleas. Make sure to treat your cats regularly and make sure you apply it correctly! included some photos of my happy flea free cats :)

We have two cats, and of course, want to keep up on their flea treatments. Those are expensive, and my wife rotates between Revolution, a generic Frontline and Advantage, depending on what the babies need. She purchases the large size of Advantage and gives each of our kitties their share. So, you pay for one dose, and end up getting two. Everyone is happy - except fleas maybe.

Not impressed with the flea control from this med. Takes days to even begin to see any change and I'm combing out fleas in that time. Better than others but other than getting an RX from the vets, this will suffice.
