Is this bluetooth operated or with a USB?

Both actually. It comes with the USB connector, which works great and is faster than Bluetooth, especially when gaming,. If you use it for work, like I did before my kids asked me for it, then Bluetooth is what you need. I use a thumb ball mouse now but of all the mice that have graced my hand, I love this mouse.
