Great game, very replayable.
amazing game, played through it twice, one of the best for the PSP. The camera is sometimes frustrating, which will cause you to die a few too many times, but the checkpoints aren't as bad as they are in the ratchet and clank series.

jak and daxter are awesome!!
I have the whole Jak & Daxter series and play it over and over again, you can learn something new each time. I love the story line and you really get connected with the characters, they almost seam real to you. My PS2 broke and I miss playing those games so much that I'm going to buy a new PS2 just for those games, that's how good they are. This was the first time I bought things from Amazon and I will continue from now on. The items were in great condition and came very quickly. My family have been buying from Amazon for years and told me to try it and now I'm hooked. I'll do all my Christmas shopping there too.

Fun game
Personally I thought the game was fun and different. Takes a little getting used to the controls. I'm more familiar with Daxter as I never played the first three aside from Jak 2 here and there.

Daxter is much better than Jak and Daxter.
I wouldn't recommend Jak and Daxter because it is much more difficult in regards to forward progress, very frustrating to work so hard and get put back so far. I really like the game Daxter, I think it's more generous on moving forward within the levels.

Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier
I bought this game because I had the first game and while it was fun, I couldn't get very far in it because it was just to difficult. I hate doing the same thing over and over and WILL stop after several times...you crazy people that like to do the same thing thousands of times in a row before you can move forward in a game are NUTS, in my humble opinion! In several reviews on this game, people were complaining that it was too easy...well that sounded like the game for me! Well, it certainly isn't easy, but it isn't as hard as some. I have been able to progress in the game and it has been fun! THANKS to all the people that complained so I could find a game I could play and have some fun with!!! :)

Doesn't live up to the quality of previous Jak & Daxter titles
What happened here? This Jak & Daxter game for the PSP was developed by High Impact Games, the same developer who created the two awesome Ratchet and Clank games for the PSP. But something went amiss with The Lost Frontier. It doesn't even come close to matching the quality of the two Ratchet and Clank games, and it's hands down the worst Jak & Daxter game to date. Not to say that it's unplayable; it can be quite entertaining in places. But the game as a whole suffers from a lack of polish and sloppy gameplay mechanics. The biggest problems with the game are the camera and using the d-pad to change weapon modes and eco powers. The camera is programmed to switch into preset positions at certain parts in the levels, and this often causes problems. It would have been much better if High Impact had just allowed the player total camera control at all times. Let the player screw it up, not the game itself. The problem with the d-pad is that there are simply too many functions mapped to it, and it's too awkward to use in the heat of combat. The player uses the d-pad to do three things: change weapon modes, change eco powers, and activate an eco power. Having to take your thumb off the analog nub to do this means Jak is a sitting duck to attacking enemies. A much better solution would have been to have a quick select system as in the Ratchet and Clank games. One button pauses the game and brings up a quick select ring with the available weapon modes and eco powers. The player chooses with the analog nub and quickly resumes gameplay. The L and R shoulder buttons could have been used to switch back and forth between a weapon ring and an eco power ring. How somebody didn't think of this is baffling. Another annoying problem is that the game does not display Jak's weapon mode and eco power at all times. The only time that information gets displayed is when the player changes weapon modes and eco power. Every time the player begins engaging an enemy, you have to fiddle with the d-pad to see what abilities you have equipped. It's just a big pain in the butt. The sky combat is fun, but way too easy. The game practically just gives the player everthing. Rather than being the grandiose Jak and Daxter game I was hoping for, The Lost Frontier is little more than a few day's diversion. Worst of all, there's no Ashelin: an unforgiveable crime. Rent this one, or wait until it drops in price.

Not for Jak and Daxter fans
It's okay as a game itself but if you are a Jak and Daxter fan like me you will be very disappointed with the game play, story line, art, and voices. it doesn't have the same feel as the other Jak games. p.s. Still hoping for naughty dog to pick up the Jak series again. Think about it Jak 4: The Journeys of Mar!!!

This is technically the 5th game in the Jak and Daxter series (there is Jak and Daxter 1, 2, 3, and the Daxter stand alone game, THEN Lost Frontier), and it is superb even on the PSP, granted the graphics are a bit lower than the PS2 version, but it packs quite the punch with a combination of both On-foot and vehicle based gameplay! Definitely the best in the series and a must have for any Jak and Daxter fan!

Graphis/Sound ----------------- Nothing wrong with them. I don't have enough PSP games to say they are really bad or really good. Story ------ No better or worse than anything in the series. It's good but not why you should play. 3 gameplay --------------- Jak and Daxter platforming -------------------------------- In Jak II and III, he had all of his moves from Jak I but this one does not(though I think some of them would use buttons the PSP does not have). Using echo powers is a bit clumsy since they are mapped to the D-pad. The platforming is good but not great, two levels were on-par with something from Jak III* but that was the only level. Wish the guns powered-up like in Jak III but sadly they don't. * See my "series ranking" at the bottom to understand more. Dogfighting gameplay -------------------------- I did not think I would enjoy this as much as I did, it was very well done and felt really nice with the PSP's button layout. (even with one of your guns mapped to triangle). It does get a little repetitive in the end but is still fun. Dark Daxter Sections ------------------------- I really enjoyed these, too bad there where only 3(?) of them. Overall thought ------------------- Get this one if the price is good but otherwise skip it. Just so you know here is my order ranking: 1. Jak and Daxter and the Precursor Legacy 2. Jak III 3. Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier(game I am reviewing) 4. Daxter 5. Jak II
