I have a 53 inch table and am unsure which size would be best. Would 4 ft stretch, 5 ft be too big?

This is stretchy material and easy to fold under the feet if you have excess additional material. I would suggest the longer length which will give you more options to use it for. I recently used one of mine to cover a dirty couch in a pinch. It is a very versatile piece of upholstery.
