A Great Solution for Media Storage!
The Atlantic Maxsteel 63135237 Media Rack is a great product. I have used them for a few years now, and they really do hold up well. They provide plenty of shelves, and if you use them for DVDs, you will have shelves left over. I suspect you would only use all the shelves included if you only stored CD's, since they are not as tall. I have just purchased my fourth rack, and with the extra shelves left over from the racks I bought previously, I have realized that I can use the extra shelves to span between two racks, thus gaining another entire rack " for free".* Of course, it is very tall in relation to its footprint, so it is prone to tipping over if the supplied strap is not used to anchor it to the wall or some other method of stabilizing it is not used, but since there are no small children in my house, I simply set the easily adjusted (and very large) feet so that the unit leans toward the wall a little bit. (If you have young children or a lot of rough-housing going on, I would suggest making use of the strap.) These racks are stylish, sturdy, don't sag under the weight of DVDs, and don't stick way out into the room. Plus, since they are tall, they hold a lot of media, so space is used very efficiently. You can adjust the shelves in one-inch increments to whatever custom configuration you choose, so that a combination of different sized media can be stored without wasting space. This rack could also hold small books, such as paperbacks or other books that will fit on a shallow shelf, but since it was not designed for them, weight may be an issue with books, and since the shelves don't have diagonal bracing on each shelf, the shelves might sag a little in the middle (I'm not sure), but most inexpensive wood-product shelves eventually sag and warp under the weight of books anyway, and at least these metal racks would likely spring back straight when the weight was taken off (unlike wood, which holds the warp). The shelves are made from welded metal rods which will support longer items (across the rods), but since it is not a solid shelf, it would not hold small items such as vases or what-knots. I can think of no "cons" for this Media Rack; it is well worth the money. Otherwise, I would not have just bought my fourth one, right? I just hope they don't discontinue this item, because I want to keep adding the exact same new ones as my DVD collection grows.*Update, 2/25/2018: As mentioned above, I took all the leftover shelves from the four units I bought and strung them between the original sets, so that now I essentially have six full-sized rack units with a "J"-shaped footprint. (One side is three units long against a side wall and to the corner of the room, with the third unit sharing one front corner pole with the fourth unit against the back wall, at a right angle to the first three. This fourth unit shares its other front corner pole with the fifth unit, which is set at a right angle to the fourth (parallel to the first three units) and extends ("free-standing") back into the room, sharing two end poles with the sixth unit. By connecting the units at right angles, all of the racks are more sturdy, and even the two units that are free-standing, and not against a wall, are very sturdy and cannot be tipped over. Getting six full-sized DVD storage units for the price of only four units makes this product especially cost-effective, and I now have shelves leftover for expanding my DVD collection even further!

There's no riddle about steel.
I ordered this bad boy because I have somewhere around 500+ CDs that really need somewhere else to live than a series of shoeboxes and long skinny film boxes. I've put together both particle board furniture and at least one other Atlantic Maxsteel product, and I have to say I much prefer them to particle board furniture. Generally speaking, steel is both lighter and stronger than particle board. Also, it seems to me that what you save on particle board furniture, you pay for in assembly hassles... while the steel racks go together fairly easily and quickly with no tools at all. When my wife pointed out the 45 lbs. shipping weight, I must confess I felt a twinge of guilt, considering that the UPS guy was going to have to schlep that monstrosity up a couple flights of stairs. As I stated in my packaging feedback, I really think the packaging could use a handle or two of some kind, because 45 lbs. in a 3' x 1' x 1' box is really, really awkward to carry.Observation: when I come in all flushed and sweaty, the wife makes a face. When the UPS guy comes in all flushed and sweaty, the wife makes an entirely different face.Unpacking wasn't a problem. The legs come in three pieces: an adjustable foot, and two roughly three foot long sections. The twelve shelves come in two stacks of six separated by little plastic disks (free poker chips!), and the plastic bits that clamp around the legs and the wall strap hardware are all in a separate plastic bag.Observation: standing in the window screwing together two metal bars while wearing a bluetooth earpiece and saying "Sam, Fi, I'm in position" scores you no points with the wife, nor with local law enforcement. The plastic sleeves that hold up the shelves come in two pieces. As stated in other reviews, you place one on the leg and slide it up and down a bit til you feel it click into one of the notches engraved into the leg. Then you attach the other half. All of these pieces have "TOP" with a helpful arrow pointing the way molded into the pieces so you can't go too far wrong. Personally, I was tempted to color in the TOP and arrow with a crayon to make them easier to read, like you used to do with your polyhedral dice back in the day. Well, like *I* used to do back in the day.The photo on the box shows the shelves to be either four or five visible notches apart; four is the minimum in order to fit CDs on a shelf, while a minimum of six notches is necessary to fit DVDs. It's worth noting that, in order to fit all twelve shelves onto the rack, I wound up with eight five-notch spaces and three four-notch spaces. You could probably try a three-notch gap for your CDs, but I wouldn't recommend it.As for the best feature of this item: it's a toss-up between the shelves having an additional bar across the back for keeping items from falling out the back, and the bookend pieces provided that clip onto the shelves to keep items from falling over. There are only twelve bookends. If you use the top shelf, you'll need two of the bookend pieces to keep stuff from falling off... which means one shelf misses out on a bookend. You can get around that by packing the shelf full, but it still seems like an oversight. The wall mount/securing hardware is nice to have, although how necessary it might be depends upon where you put the rack and how you load it. The rack itself is fairly heavy, which keeps it relatively stable despite its narrow footprint. Adjusting the front feet to make it tip backward a little against the wall should theoretically be enough to keep it upright in normal use. (Cat shenanigans do not constitute "normal use".)All in all, I'm very pleased with this item. Assembly was no more than 30 to 45 minutes (wasn't really timing; these things are a bit fun to put together), and now the stacks of CDs that were threatening to Amontillado my computer area are neatly arranged in one place. As stated before, this item is a bit spendier than comparable particle board furniture, but the ease of assembly and sturdiness are worth the extra money.

Sturdy and Slimline
Recommend these racks for DVD'S and CD'S. They are very slimline, and do not take up much room. They hold the number of dvd's and cd's as described in advertisement, and are c easy to put together.

Me gustó mucho!

Some of the shelves we received were dented and broken
Pros:Fairly easy to assemble (only tool needed was a screwdriver or drill) and pretty sturdy even without using the mounts to the wall (still installed them though just in case). The colour also matches well to our living room theme/colour scheme.Cons:Disappointed that we're not able to use all the shelves we received as a few were dented out of shape and/or totally broken. Based on what we received (with these shelves and quality overall) I would say this is pretty overpriced for value and should be at least $50 - $100 cheaper than what it is priced (and compared to similar products on the market).
