Life-changing book - finally understanding my body!

Great information, too much self promotion
I think Woman Code is a fantastic book for all women to read, especially those in their 20s, 30s and 40s. Vitti does a great job of explaining how our bodies are supposed to function, the interplay between hormones and her message is extremely empowering. The idea that our hormone function is basically a system and we can knock over the dominoes, but we can also get it realigned and back into balance. Hormones have always been this black box and something that people feel are a puzzle and untouchable, but Woman Code gives you the tools to unlock it and figure it out. I also love the "every meal, every day" concept. It's a life-long effort and it takes real attention and work to make it happen, but it is possible. There just aren't any quick fixes. All good stuff! The reason I don't give this book 5 starts (and I wavered between 3 or 4) is because some of it reads like a blog post/promotional material. As soon as you pick up the book, you know that Vitti runs a successful business in NYC. You're likely to check out her website and know that she has distance products as well for those who are not local to NYC. If you're at all interested in her products, you'll know where to go, but she seems to chime in constantly about her clients, her business, her facebook page, where you can find more, etc etc. In my view, the beauty of writing a book is offering a low-cost product and getting information out to the masses. Undoubtedly, those who want more support know where to go, but when I buy a book I don't want it to be blatant promotional material for a practice. That's the aspect that feels a bit amateur to me here. But, overall, it's a great tool and something all women should read, whether or not they have known hormonal imbalance.

Wonderful improvements so far
I suffer from endometriosis that seems to get worse and worse every year. I'm in my 20s and want to start a family with my husband within the next year, so every day I live in horrible pain is a day I wonder if I will even be able to have children. After numerous visits to different doctors (who want only to put me on several different birth control pills that all make me have panic attacks), I've been trying to treat things naturally myself. I eliminated caffeine and wheat, ate mostly vegan with tons of fresh veggies, and took about every supplement ever recommended, and still it just seemed to get worse every day. I found FLO Living last fall after a friend with PCOS recommended it to me, but didn't want to commit to signing up with the program and paying the money without knowing if it will actually work for me. So when the book came out this spring, I immediately bought it and gave it a shot. WOW. It's only been three weeks, and I can feel the difference already. I thought I had tried everything as far as diets and supplements, but as the book points out, you can't just throw healthy foods and supplements randomly at your body and expect it to get better. As a nurse, I thought I had a pretty complete understanding of my body. Wrong. This book taught me the daily and monthly cyclical nature of my body. Not just what to eat, but when, how, and how much makes just as much difference. I will agree with another reviewer that there is some heavy self-promotion to join the official program (which is moderately expensive)throughout the book. But then again not everything you need to know to take care of your body for the rest of your life can be fit into a book. If I continue to improve, I do intend to join the online program and take it to the next level. I have bounds more energy, my face has cleared up, and this month I have had significantly less cramps/pain. I've never once had to take a pain pill since I started, or had sudden stabbing pains that come out of nowhere. I have not had my period yet, which for me will be the real test. But compared to what my life was like, I am SO THANKFUL to have found FLO Living and this book!! UPDATE: When my period came, I was in severe pain for one day. ONE DAY! This may not sound like a positive to most. But after being used to having cramps for the entire second half of my cycle only to be followed by pain on my period so horrible it felt like I was being eviscerated, this was a huge victory for me. I hope it will just continue to get better in the future! If you're on the fence on whether or not to try the program, JUST DO IT! Healthy food and positive affirmations will certainly never harm you!

I love this book and recommend it to all women
changed my life! I love this book and recommend it to all women. I was having several hormonal health issues that hit me at age 26--menopause like symptoms, spotty period, missed period, constant bloating, abnormal cells in my cervix, and reactive hypoglycemia. My western doctor told me "eat berries and such..things with antioxidants..." WOW. I already eat pristinely by eating all nonprocessed and nonrefined foods, 8-12 cups of veggies a week, fruit, beans, nuts and homemade amazing goods. I work out 5 days a week and I have a very good practice of self-care. There was nothing my western doctor could tell me that I wasn't already doing. BUT THIS BOOK, was about getting to know MY system, in a holisitic way, changing of the "when," and "why" and "combinations" of food and exercise rather than just the "what" or list of foods I was eating. It helped me get in tune with my body in such an amazing way. I have learned to love my womanly experience--unlike what our culture promotes. The only downside is the author can be somewhat repetitive. However it's nothing compared to the results I received from taking the author's suggestions. I have had a regular healthy period for 8 months now, feel in line with my body still exercising 5 days a week, and feel like my body can take care of me because I've learned what it needs to do so efficiently. thanks!!

There are better books on this topic
I agree with what a lot of other people have said. This book does have a lot of fluff. She talks a lot about how she's going to tell you what you should be eating, but doesn't really tell you until the middle of the book. And even that information is unorganized. After you read the book, you will wonder what was important and what wasn't. A lot of the ideas weren't realistic such as: eating according to your menstrual cycle stages. Who has time for that? And there's no way to know if it works. A lot of the book doesn't mention medical studies. This lady seemed very keen on selling her products to you. There also weren't many diagrams of important body parts she was discussing. I would rate this book a C+. It wasn't a complete waste of time, but there are other books that are a lot better. I would recommend two other books called:Taking Charge of Your Fertility, by Toni Weschler and the Period Repair Manual:by Lara Briden. But if you only can buy one, it would be Taking Charge of Your Fertility. But I think they are both different enough, if you have money for both, id buy both. I have read and highlighted all books.

The best book about women's hormones I've ever read!
This is absolutely the BEST book I've ever read about women's health. Honestly, I thought this book was going to be a bust. I only gave it a shot because I had tried everything else. I never expected to stick with it, but it's become second nature and now I can't see myself ever going back. It has completely changed the way I eat, exercise, work and live--it's helped me balance my hormones, eliminate skin issues, manage my blood sugar, improve my sleep patterns, minimize my PMS mood swings and cramps, and understand my body better. This month is the first time in the 12 years since I first got my period that I didn't take a single pain pill. I used ginger and a heating pad for some minor cramps. Amazing! If you have thyroid issues, PCOS, painful cycles, fertility problems, missed cycles, acne, weight problems, fatigue, depression, endometriosis, any hormonal issues (or even if you think you have no issues)--buy this book, download the app, and start reading her website, FLO Living. A lot of people point out that the book is a little repetitive at times and doesn't go into as much detail as they'd like. I think this is partially true, but the book is like the foundation. The other resources are the stepping stones to build on the foundation. Use them all! We have to be proactive about our health and do some of our own investigating--so no, she doesn't hand you everything. But if you spend a couple days reading more specific topics that pertain to your issues on her website, you can basically build the protocol tailored to your needs. Ultimately, there is no reason we should have to live with hormonal issues at any age. It's not normal. Once I really thought about it, it made sense. Why do we try to do the same things day in and out (eating the same foods, doing the same exercises, etc) when as women, our hormones fluctuate on a weekly basis where our bodies need different things to thrive? Why aren't we supporting these hormonal changes every week so we can live our best lives? Once you know how to do it, it's simple!

A fantastic book that every young woman needs.
This is a fantastic informative and engaging book. I haven't finished it yet but already I recommend it to every single young woman. This book was highly recommended by a fitness and lifestyle influencer called Lucy May, I decided to snap it up along with thousands of other women just like me because at the time there was only one copy left and I managed to buy it! The book goes into full detail about the our cycles and how things can affect them such as diet, stress, weight and many other factors. It has helped me to understand my body more and basically listen to it, it has also given me the motivation I needed to eat more healthy and do more exercise. For those who suffer with bad periods, PCOS, irregular periods, PMS or maybe you would just like to know what our amazing bodies can do in detail then I recommend you buy this book if you can! You will not regret it.

Every woman needs to read this
If you have any hormonal issues or if you want to understand your body better and just maintain good hormonal health then you need this book. Buy it and also gift it to women around you! There is so much I learnt that I had no idea about it. For example, how food effects our periods and how small changes can affect overall well-being. What I also loved is that the book has practical tips on very everyday situations.
