Saint Toribio Romo González, also known as "San Toribio," was a Mexican Catholic priest and martyr. He was born on April 16, 1900, in Santa Ana de Guadalupe, in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, and he died as a martyr on February 25, 1928. During the time of the Cristero War (1926-1929), a period of conflict in Mexico characterized by anti-Catholic government measures, Father Toribio Romo González became a key figure in supporting the Cristeros, who were Catholics resisting the government's persecution of the Church. Father Toribio was known for his dedication to his pastoral duties and for providing spiritual support to the Cristero fighters. Eventually, he was arrested by government authorities for his involvement in supporting the Cristeros and for his refusal to renounce his faith.
