GTX 20W-50 Conventional Motor Oil, 5 Quarts

Very good quality conventional motor oil, and a great price, as I prefer conventional over sythetic, and if you use motor oil according to the region and the climate you live in, your vehicle will last longer and you'll thank yourself for it in the long run. It's awful hot where we live in the south, and I have used heavier weight motor oils for over 30 years, and have never had an issue with it, hotter climate use a heavier weight, colder climate use a lighter weight. Excellent performance and lubrication, great value for the money, CASTROL has always produced a good quality motor oil.

Looks like oil, slippery, light brown, works great for car engines as far as I can tell. Definitely will purchase again.

When I saw the deal for $13 for this, I thought it was too good to be true and had to be a catch. Where I live (HI), I can't even find this in a 5 Qt jug. They're only sold individually at 1 Qt, with the cheapest store having them go for almost $5 each. But I went ahead and ordered 3 of these anyway, since I hardly have issues with Amazon purchases, and the few times I did, they've always been resolved. I thought the first issue would be not being able to complete the order with a warning that they don't ship to HI. But the order went through with no problems. And I received all well-packed 3 bottles within the next couple weeks. I'm glad I got 3 of them as I see the price went up already to $18, but that's still a great deal. This is the only oil I use for my '72 Super Cheyenne Chevy. This Castrol 20W-50 is very reputable. When I change my oil at the auto hobby shop, I get comments from other do-it-yourselfers that that's the oil they use too for their classics.

Have been using this for my old 1987 model car since 1990...I have resist switching to synthetic or semi synthetic because I do not want to take a chance on engine leaking. This was a problem on early synthetic and I read that the newer synthetic do not have this problem anymore, but why take a chance.. The 5 quarts are a good value when they are selling for around $25, but it seem the price has went up. Not sure I will buy them anymore if they are the same as buying the 1 qts, since I have to use a funnel for the 5 quarts due to clearance on my rear engine car.

If you are at 100,000 or more miles on your V-8 5.3l Vortec engine, you better go to 10w-40 and then to 20w-50 at some point. The 5w-30 OEM recommended viscosity is not going to hold up. These will quiet that engine down and run like a champion. I have a 2007 GMC Sierra 5.3l vortec. Switched to 10w-40 in 2010. Been with that the last 10 years. Just switched to 20w-50 last year; quiet, smooth, and powerful. I use the bigger oil filter like the ecotecs call for, AC Delco PF-63 or equivalent e.g. Champion/LuberFiner PH10063, more flow and more oil, less start up tapping. I don't hear any piston slap either. 165,000 miles on engine and still running strong! So, December thru February it's 10w-40. March thru November it's 20w-50. We live in SE North Carolina, so the heat is conducive for the thicker oil. If I lived far up north like Connecticut or so, then I would use 5Water-30 in the winter, but we don't so this is the far better solution!
