Can you go in and out of the gate? I do not see an opening.

The gate is almost impossible to open with the provided slider mechanism. The arm latches onto a series of notches which adjust the width. This works well to fix the width, but makes it very awkward to open/close. I gave up on that after a few tries. I now slide it across the floor and walk through that way. I then slide it back in place.

How high are the bottom parts (my husband says "bumpers") that grip the wall?? We have wooden molding going around our floor and it is 3 & 1/2" high.

The middle of the bottom bumper is 4 5/8" from the bottom of the gate and the middle of the top bumper is 27 5/8" from the bottom.

Is there replacement bumper pads for this baby gate?
