Yes, the plant likes warm/hot conditions and sunlight. This IS the Heliconia Rostrata plant despite what the odd woman with her "plant app" is claiming- she is wrong, it is NOT a lily.

Will these grow in south Texas?

they should do great in warm climates. mine are doing well in florida. you will need to take them inside if the temperature drops to 40 or below. they do not like the cold

i have mine outdoors however i live in florida so my climate is much better suited for it.
