Expert Pastoral Scholars and Teachers Illuminate Ministry Through Emotional Intellligence
Roy Oswald's life-experience in educating and consulting churches and church leaders is combined here with Arland Jacobson's years of Biblical scholarship and leading continuing education for church leaders in an easy way into a faith-based understanding of emotional intelligence. This builds on Roy's most recent efforts with the Center for EQ-HR to teach the new insights of brain science from Daniel Goleman and others through human-relations groups (also known as T-groups, encounter or sensitivity training groups). Each chapter is illuminated with Arland's fresh understandings of the life and teaching of Jesus from the historical-critical research of the Jesus Seminar. For the most practical applications of the insights of the book, be sure to read the last three chapters on "The Emotionally Intelligent Congregation," "The Emotionally Intelligent Pastor," and "Implications for Transitions Points in Ministry."

Emotional Intelligence
I sincerely enjoyed the content of The Emotional Intelligence of Jesus. The practical and pragmatic aspects of this masterpiece of a Book is special.I have learned you cannot be Emotionally unhealthily and Spiritually healthy at the same time. When we are emotionally healthy we have a greater likelihood of being Spiritually healthy as well.

Simply phenomenal!
The emotional intelligence of Jesus: Relational Smarts for Religious Leaders, is an excellent read merging both the scientific-psychological perspectives along with the spiritual applications, which is best revealed in the model leader himself, Jesus the Christ. I highly recommend this book as it unpacks several helpful key components, such as self-awareness. Again, I do not regret reading this work - well worthy the time! Thx! co

Not impressed with this book. Author reaches a lot to make the conclusions decided upon before researching. Author seems to be confused also on what emotional intelligence is...defined it way too broadly and that is a bit dangerous in my opinion.

Excellent Summary
The careful unpacking of EQ attributes with related scriptural references to the life of Christ will provide good fodder for preaching. The material about congregational size transitions was a good summary.
