Sturdy Knife, Great Quality Steel, Holds an Edge well
Whoever said this was fake Damascus was wrong. The blade has a very hard center layer that takes and holds an edge well, surrounded by softer layers that support and protect it. The locking and unlocking are solid and smooth. The clip is sturdy and springy like it should be. Amazingly nice all-around pocket utility knife, especially for the money. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this is.It did need sharpening when it arrived, but -- to me -- that's not a drawback; any knife will need sharpening over time. It takes and holds a razor-sharp edge. I sharpened it to about a 20° angle -- shaving-sharp -- and it held for much longer than I expected it to.

Fake Damascus my A, awesome.
Ordered 4 for Xmas presents after ample research. Inspected all. As a avid knife/gun collector I can say these are clearly Damascus steel. All were razor sharp out of the box with varying Damascus lines. Super happy.

Buyer BEWARE FAKE DAMASCUS
I should have known at this price, but since the product description claimed it was real Damascus steel, I gave it a try. The Damascus is printed on. No doubt why the sale page photos are so blurry. Blade barely holds an edge. This is cheap garbage not worth $15

Not real damascus, almost seems printed on
Really disappointed in this Albatross blade. I had an older one of the same brand and feature set, but that blade has a real damascus blade, you can feel the grooves of each visible feature and the row of lines leading up to the edge are really there. Most importantly, this make the blade so surprisingly sharp. literally sharper than any other blade from any other brand I've had from the get go, and keeps that sharpness so well!I was hoping to get the same quality blade in a larger form, but no luck. This blade looks like the damascus grooves are printed on, only a 2d effect on the surface, with 0 tangible benefit. I don't even think it's etched into the physical material as there's no depth to the lines. It's basically a simple steel blade with a pretty design on it.
