Works great!
Free observations: The most important part is that you have wet fingers. This material becomes malleable and easy to work with when it's wet. Scoop out about the amount you would want and then wet it with your fingers. Once you've put it on your tooth you'll want to bite down let it squish around get to where it needs to get to. Don't worry too much about the excess at this point, but if any squishes out of the tooth then you can remove that. For the next 20 minutes I would suggest biting down on something absorbent like tissue or a paper towel. This will help dry it out a bit and let it start hardening into your tooth. Once it gets a little bit hard after about 20 minutes you can try to pick out some of the extra parts you don't like. If you do it too early or if you're too aggressive with it you might pull the whole filling out. Even if some gets stuck on your tooth in a place you don't like it you can always pick it out later. Remember this is a temporary filing. I suggest doing this at night after you've done all your eating for the day. That way you'll have more than then recommended 2 hours for it to set. I would continue to bite on the absorbent towel on and off for the next couple hours before bed. I'd also suggest if avoiding feeling the filling with your tongue, this both re-wets it and potentially moves the filling. I know that will be hard. By the next day you'll be good to eat or do anything else you need with it, but I do recommend not brushing it too vigorously. Also avoid touching it with your tongue it over and over again because it does wear down over time. It's not a permanent filling like the ones you get from the dentist, and my experience it tends to wear down in 5 to 7 days depending on how much you put in. Fortunately this comes with two containers that will have more than enough to keep your tooth filled for several months even with reapplications. I tried a more expensive solution here on Amazon that cost around $40 thinking that it must be better than this really cheap one, only to find that that filling fell out both times I tried to use it. I went ahead and returned that and got this and this has been way better definitely worth the extremely reasonable price. Definitely recommend.

It's a waste of money!
If you are suffering pain from a lost filling or a cavity then.....DON'T GET THIS! I was in a lot of pain from a broken tooth and it's the weekend, so getting an emergency dental visit was not in my budget. I had previously used another brand whose name is very close in spelling as this item and it worked for me almost instantly! When you're in pain from a dental problem, you will do almost anything to stop that pain. That is what I thought was ordering when I ordered this product. Boy was I ever wrong! Yes, this item did arrive very quickly, which I was so happy for! But that is the only good thing I can say about this product! As soon as I opened it, I immediately began to use it. If you're not familiar the way you use this produc, it comes with a little container of a putty type substance and an applicator tool. I dug out the necessary mount that I thought I would need and began putting it in the cavity in my tooth. I was expecting that instant relief that I got from the previous product that I ordered and needless to say it did not occur! Its supposed to harden after you put it in the cavity or the area that you need it. It will normally last for 2 or 3 days and give you time to get to the dentist while controlling your pain. This putty would not stay in my cavity. It kept falling out, and I kept reapplying it. I went through a whole tub of this putty, trying to get it to stay in my tooth. Luckily when I ordered it, it was buy one, get 1 free, so I had another tub that I could use. Needless to say, it did not work either. The putty would not harden and was all over the inside of my mouth, I kept having to rinse my mouth with water, trying to get that putty out of my mouth and when the cold water hit my tooth needless to say, that was not a pleasant experience. I can't believe the makers of this product put it out as an option for relief knowing that a person in pain is going to purchase it, wanting that relief and it never comes. I would not recommend this product to my worst enemy. It's junk. I ended up throwing it away. I had to go to Walgreens to see if they carried the previous product that I ordered and they did carry it, but unfortunately, they were out of stock. When was I looking I found this wax substance that did stay in my tooth fairly well. But of course, when wax warms up, it's gonna loosen and fall out too. Overall, if you're in pain, please do not buy this!

Saved a lot of time, hassle & money.
So, needed some dental work replaced, but had to wait another 2 1/2 months for insurance to cover. After a couple weeks, broken piece started falling out. Gave Dentemp a try. Exceeded my expectations. Thought I'd have to keep reapplying once or twice a week, but it held on way longer. First application held for over 3 weeks. Only needed to reapply two more times over the next 5 weeks. Considering cost & ease of applying, it couldn't have gone better. Even my dentist was impressed. If I ever have these types of dental issues in the future, Dentemp is the first thing I'm reaching for. Thank you very much!

Works, but annoying to use
I picked this up to help hold me over from my root canal while I wait for the next step of treatment. It works, but is super annoying. You can't eat or drink for two hours after placing it. I get about a week out of each fill. The product is super crumbly the first day or so, which gets annoying. It has a strong clove flavor and dries my mouth out, which wouldn't be too terrible, but you can't drink anything for two hours. It does provide relief and is keeping my tooth steady while waiting for the next part of my treatment so I can't really complain.

Honest review
1. Bright white, maybe best for back teeth 2. Hardens like chalk. Can't chew with that tooth. 3 comes out when you eat (they claim it's safe) 4. Pretty easy to use. Scrape some out with tool. With wet fingers roll into a ball. Stuff in hole. 5. I find that if my saliva touches it it just comes apart. So right after getting it into my tooth I will hold my mouth open so it will dry. Once it dries for a minute or two then it's fine on the outside but you have to wait for it to dry on the inside to eat. Which as I said it doesn't seem to matter because it comes out. 6. I think it depends on if your hole is on the side of your tooth or if it's a bottom tooth or a top tooth. I think all those things make a difference. It doesn't work well to fill the side of a tooth. Might not come out in other situations like a top tooth or a bottom tooth and it going straight in. 6. As far as taste, I don't care either way. It's not a good taste of course, but it's not horrible either but it does sting my tongue. 7. As far as size, there's plenty in one little container. I didn't need to buy the two. But if you have to continually refill your hole then you probably do. I just need my tooth pulled. 8. It wasn't that much money and it was worth a try.

Bad batch newest purchase Nov. 2023 disintegrates
Bad batch. Just bought end of November 2023. I’ve used before and know how to properly place so that it hardens and sticks into tooth to dry. This brand has always worked well for me when I needed it. However it seems as though they’ve put a bad batch out to shelves, that does not work at all. Following instructions-the moment you try to get it on your finger, it smears into crumbs and disintegrates on fingers. I’ve tried it repeatedly with same results. If you manage to get a small ball of it on tooth, disintegrates in your mouth, also repeatedly. It does not harden at all. It just falls apart until you swallow it or wipe it all out of your mouth. I’ve talked to Dentemp, they refused me a refund, claiming it’s because a third party store is selling their product. However, when you go directly to Dentemps website, and you click on their option of “where to purchase this item”, it is Dentemps site who takes you directly to that “third party”- seller. So Dentemp is putting out junk right now, but not taking responsibility for it when their customer spent money on a product that isn’t working correctly. It seems I can’t count on them anymore. Afraid to buy it again now because I might end up with the same problem with a new container. I have two different lot numbers and they are both completely unusable. The bad lot numbers are: A65343 & A65344. Update 12/3/25 (New batches work well now): Ordered again from Amazon, & bought from Acme; seems the quality is the way it used to be now, thankfully. At this point newest batches are working out properly.
