The Best & Funniest Manga I Have Read! (Review of Volumes 1-27)
Hayate is one of the best and funniest manga I have ever read and is by far a worthwhile read for anyone who is a fan of comedy manga.STORY & CHARACTERSThe story is about a young boy named Hayate Ayasaki and the various crazy, outlandish, circumstances he gets himself involved in. The story does take a while to get going, mostly because there are a lot of characters that are introduced, but I can't talk too much about the story because that will then be going into spoilers. All I can say is that this series is very character driven and focuses on the interaction between characters. Which leads me to talk about some of the characters, but since there's so many I'll go over the main ones. Hayate is a young boy who has had to work since he was a boy, due to his parent’s outlandish debt. It is also amusing that there are quite a few jokes that are based around him constantly being happy even after doing almost every job imaginable, some of which are just so random that you just have to laugh. Nagi is a spoiled rich girl who employs Hayate as her butler, due to some misunderstandings. She is also a bright young girl who is obsessed with anime and manga a like. Maria is a maid who works for Nagi and, in most cases, is the voice of reason and the only character with some sort of common sense. However, if you make her made then you have to be pre-paired. Lastly is Hinagiku, the student council president and captain of the kendo club. Her approach to some situations can vary, but when she has the option to be gun-ho she will do so to protect her friends. There are a lot more characters in the series to talk about but there are just so many that you can't fit them all in here. The interaction between all of the characters is great to read and a lot of the jokes I found myself laughing out loud because it was so funny, which is very rare for any manga to do. A lot of the jokes are random but it’s because it’s random and is parodying other anime and manga that makes it funny, it even makes a mockery of a few western movies. Not to mention breaking the fourth wall seems to be a common joke in this series.OVERALLThis series is hilarious to read with so many jokes, so much character interaction, and character development that there's is just too much I could talk about in a quick review. All I can do is recommend to buy this manga, as it is a great read and has so many merits that it is hard to think of anything bad. There is just so much good to this series. I would like to point out that there is an anime and a movie, Heaven is a Place on Earth, out as well, so if you enjoyed the manga I can recommend watching the anime. Though I do recommend the movie and the third and fourth seasons of the anime, unless you want to see various parts of the manga animated then I can just say go for it. This is fantastic series. If this isn't too you're liking I do recommend Nisekoi or, if you liked Evangelion, I can also recommend the Shinji Ikari Raising Project. Hopefully, this series will be to your liking.

And the romance/drama arc is pretty much over
Although I do think the Athena-romance arc during the last volumes was actually up to high standards, it is certainly not what would be expected by this series and thus the author decided to close it and move on to the usual good and light hearted comedy that anyone who's followed the series to volume 25 will like anyway. Anyone who didn't like the series will not have held out this far - and anyone not knowing it shoud go to volume 1 :D Everyone else can buy without doubts.
