Danco80959 Universal Rundle UR-1 Cartridge for Single-Handle Faucets, 1 Pack, White

It was difficult to find this older replacement for Milwaukee brand cartridge. Local big boxes didn't carry or local specialized plumbing shops didn't carry on-hand. Was for a older home with remodeled 1987 bathrooms. After installing this it fixed the major issue of water pouring out due to bad deteriorated gaskets, but now drips consistently. got some o-ring lube and will remove again soon and see if that helps, maybe clean out the pipe itself better. Hope that solves everything. If not, new valve and casing remodel to follow.

Shower faucet

The original cartridge lasted for 32 years. These replacements only make it about a year before they get loose and become difficult to get turned off, if you can get it to turn off, or leak into the wall while on. I've tried Danco's and Lasco's versions - the only ones I can find. Both have the same problems, and are likely from the same assembly line. If you're ordering one, you might as well order two or three, so you've got another on hand, ready for the inevitable failure.

This is the first replacement cartridge for our Carefree shower valve that did not leak. Cost more than twice as much as the last one I bought from a different manufacturer, but that one leaked and therefore was a complete waste of money. I've tried 3 different cartridges from two different manufacturers and they all leaked. Danco Construction is slightly different than the others; centering notch for valve handle faces downward (water off position), which seems more logical anyway, and the range of motion seems smaller than the other brands but water temperature can be adjusted to the desired setting.

This cartridge did not fit the shower faucet and it was keep dripping after installation. I had to return it.

Arrived 12 days after ordered- manila paper mailer was torn open, taped back together and put in a plastic bag by the Post Office. Fortunately the parts were still all there, undamaged. It fits perfectly and best of all it DOES NOT LEAK ! I need to order an extra or 2 for this 28 yr. old Universal Rundle shower faucet because they probably won't make them forever. Once that happens I'll need to have the wall opened up and the plumbing re-done which will be very very expensive.

Right part, just like old one -- started leaking just like the old one after 3-4 months, took it apart and one of the rubber gaskets was twisted 90 degrees. Turned it to correct position and all seems well.Update, has been leaking worse than the original. Took it apart and both gaskets turned, seem to be too large. Replaced the whole assembly with a new Danco one, we will see how long it lasts.

Universal Rundle shower faucets went by the wayside twenty years ago, but this Danco shower cartridge is the exact replacement for the original UR-1 cartridge. A Phillips head screwdriver and a little o-ring lubricant are all you need to replace the old leaky cartridge. I keep several of these in reserve because I figure that sooner or later the demand for them will be miniscule and they will be discontinued. When I can't get them anymore, then I'll have to do a more expensive faucet replacement.
