SMARTRO SC91 Projection Alarm Clock for Bedrooms with Weather Station

I love this clock. It was easy to set up. Works properly. Easy to read in the daytime and at night. Tilts whichever way best needed for the room setup. Placement can be on the wall or ceiling. If I needed one for another room I'd buy the same one.

I bought this 5 years ago and it's been pretty much on constantly since then. The red projection looks bright and is easy to read at night or even during the day. I have mine projecting on the ceiling over my bed so I just need to look up to check the time. It's not so bright that you would be awoken by it and the main clock panel also has a dimmable light (I keep it on the lowest setting most of the time.) The clock does take batteries but will only use that to run the clock during power outages (not the projection clock). After 5 years, the red LED is showing some wear but the numbers are still pretty easy to read. I prefer to secure my main clock to my nightstand with velcro and it works well to keep it from sliding. The outdoor unit is easily mounted and the batteries (I use Alkaline) last for months at a time (at least 10 months). You can mount it high under an eave or porch roof to keep the water out. Note that I did not review the alarms because I do not use them. Having the time, weather, and humidity readily available on the ceiling has saved me countless hours of frustration at waking up when it's dark and not having to get a face full of cell phone display or turn on a light to see a clock. I am not sure if this unit will last for decades but, for the money I paid and the convenience I get, it's well worth the cost.

I like this projection clock because the included temperature transmitter works reliably even from 30-40 feet away. The face of the clock shows a lot of information and has four levels of brightness, one of which is "off." The projection is bright and clear and shows time and temperature, switching automatically between indoor and outdoor. The only feature I wish it had would be more choices for the display angle on the ceiling. Put the clock on a bedside table. Face the clock toward you so you can glance at it while lying in bed. Now turn on the projector and the ceiling display will be 90° off, with no way to adjust it. You can flip it upside down (180°) but not sideways in 90° increments.

Much easier to use than the previous projection clock! If I would change anything I would allow dimming of the projection. The screen dims nicely, but the projection is too bright in a darkened room.

UPDATED 2/4/26: (see original review below) After receiving several emails from customer service walking me through several “push this, push that” options, I realized the issue was human error. However, they offered a replacement ensuring this was not typical behavior (if it had in fact been a defect. I repeat- it was not.) As I did not need a replacement, I thanked them for the offer. No need to waste more! 100% satisfied. The clock may not be the most appealing to the eye, but it does have a bunch of of info, and is well lit with our outdoor sensor registering our most recent snowstorm of 3 degrees and lower. Customer service response was quick and personal- not some auto response. We went back and forth over several days to resolve it (time difference I assume) but overall, originally unimpressed turned over impressed! Original Review: Thought this clock was great when first received in September of 2025. However, in December I noticed I no longer could see the display on my ceiling. Pushed the light button and thought “hugs maybe I bumped it.” (I never touch it because I don’t need to- I literally bought the clock for the display on the ceiling). I just recently checked it and then tested it again. Nope- definitely doesn’t stay bright. Just reverts back to dim. Unfortunately there isn’t even an option to message the seller, and obviously it’s outside of its 30 day return policy- so for not even lasting 2 months and no way to contact? Wish I could’ve rated zero stars.

I had a projector alarm clock many years ago. The clock used a flashlight bulb to project the time on the ceiling. Back then it only worked in the dark of night, and it was very faint. The SmarTro projector shows the time and temp even in the day in my bedroom, with the blinds drawn. The LED display with the temps, humidity, and weather prediction is nice by my bed. I walk my dog early mornings, and I work outside. Online weather apps are VERY inaccurate for morning temps. It’s nice to see the outside temperature on my ceiling. At night I can easily dim the LED display to its lowest setting. With the dim display, it’s barely visible when your going to sleep. Setup took mere minutes. I was careful to place the outside sensor in a shady area. The outdoor temperature is accurate, it’s the same as my car outside temperature, and the bank temperature. Battery backup is always good to have on something that takes time to set back up again. My only beefs or cons. The alarm is worthless. It goes off for only two minutes, and it’s barely audible. Not likely to wake me from my slumber. But…that’s me, a guy with hearing loss. The only other complaint is the buttons on the top of the LED display. They have a very low profile, and it difficult to tell which button you have your finger on. In time, I think…I’ll get use to them. With all that said, it’s a keeper. I went to Walmart and bought a cheap LOUD alarm clock for $9.98. I going to use this for temperatures. People at work say why don’t you just use your cell or tablet for an alarm. Many time Apple with do an update in the middle of the night. And…that defeats your alarm, until your device boots to the Home Screen. I’ll stick to a good old fashion alarm clock.

This review is for the Smartro Time and Temp Projection Alarm Clock. SC91 Nice, small, compact, lightweight device. The internal battery is the small, round, lithium type. I like the internal and external temperatures. The brightness controls are good, so it won't keep you up at night. I'm not sure how the weather indicator is supposed to work. You set it to the current weather, and it magically adjusts? Based on humidity level changes, I guess. How does it know if it is cloudy? More of a gimmick, I feel. A lot of detail to cram into a 4 inch diameter screen. The overhead display is nice, but doesn't rotate 360 degrees, so if it facing your bed (on your nightstand), the overhead is sideways. Not a deal breaker for me at all - still easy to read the way it is, but if you want it directly over your head at night, you'll need it at the foot of your bed, for example. The biggest issue is the inside temperature unit is reading 10 degrees (F) lower than it should be. The outside device is fairly accurate, according to another thermometer. Humidity levels seem accurate enough. See image showing outside unit sitting next to inside unit and note differeces I contacted the company's support regarding the temperature differences. Lets see what they say. I'll be returning this unit. I'd keep it if it was accurate. No reason to live with a new item with the temperature 10 degrees off. One or two would be acceptable, as that is pretty standard for inexpensive weather gauges. Note - Amazon sent me a unit someone obviously returned (Not MFG's fault). The internal battery was activated (and working, saving previous owner's data, including the 6 AM alarm that went off when I didn't expect it to). I assume it was returned for the same reason I'll be returning this unit. What a waste of my time. Update - Contacted MFG support. They stated they are sending me another device. Very responsive. Review update - the periodic synchronization between the outside unit and main device is very bright. Actually wakes me up at night. I covered it. Otherwise happy!

My wife and I absolutely love this clock/temperature projector that we keep in our bedroom. We have it pointed at the ceiling, which makes it incredibly easy to check the time and temperature early in the morning without having to put on our glasses or reach for our phones. The projection is bright and crystal clear, yet dim enough that it doesn't interfere with our sleep. It's one of those simple features that makes a surprisingly big difference in our daily routine. We highly recommend it!

Very good product

Great multifunction Clock. It has two alarm settings, one for weekdays and one for weekends, which I wanted. I love the weather information right there beside my bed. I doubt the weather forecast is very accurate, but having indoor temperature and humidity, as well as outdoor, is very convenient. Having these values display on the ceiling is a bonus and works well. It is rather light, thin and made of plastic, so not particularly high quality materials, and it can fall over or be pushed around. But to me the pros totally outweigh the cons. Very happy with my purchase.
