Great intro to London.
I have traveled a bit and in the course of those travels have often picked up a travel guide. Most of them fit in a category somewhere between very Spartan, and very boring. This book sets a new standard. It tell you a little of history of the subject, and breaks it down by transportation, culinary adventures, and I particularly the part of understanding London - Now and then.I think this travel guide should not be called a guide, because it is much more than that. It gives you reasons to go and see certain sights, and when not to go.You can tell the author really feels for London, and he starts off by wishing the traveler `an amazing time in London`. I don’t recall seeing such genuineness in any guide before. I liked the way he is beside you in considering such things as where to eat, and why go `there`.Being a history buff, I appreciate the way he ties history in the descriptions of just about everything, and actually goes into some depth as a basis for going. This guy knows his stuff, and makes you want to put London at the top of your bucket list.It is a very, very good introduction to London. When I go, this will certainly be with me.

nice city to visit
This book is a good introduction to London. It starts with some of the history of the town, all the way from the days of the Roman Empire. In the 19th century, it was the largest city in the world, and the River Thames is the longest river in Great Britain.Specific neighborhoods are described, with a list of attractions in each neighborhood. Small photographs of some of the attractions are included, and this is helpful to give a feeling for the venue. One little map is included to give a big picture view of how the airports and the rail network are interconnected. A good bargain is the all-day unlimited travel on London’s public transportation for about 12 pounds.A real treat is the daily musical concerts during the summer and the fall at the Royal Albert Hall. There is some discussion of costs, such as the fact that the cover charges at the clubs is usually cheaper before 10 pm. Also, if you can schedule your visit in the Fall, the air fares and hotel charges will probably be lower. The book tells us that the emergency phone numbers in the UK are 999 and 112. But it doesn’t tell why there are two, or the difference between them. I think it would have been helpful to explain that 999 was the original emergency number, and 112 was added later as part of the European Union development. In Great Britain they both connect you to the same service, and you can call either number.

The, editor, forgot, to add, maps, and; proofread, the text
Chapter 2 begins: "For starters, it must be taken into account, to comprehend London's history, as well as that of the entire country, that the River Thames is the longest river in Great Britain, and that for hundred of years; it was the spine that held London up and nourished it with consistency." Not only are there no pictures or maps in this travel guide, but also apparently there was no editor. Much of the text is written like it's been translated from a free language app, such as "Especially if you are a fanatic of the law, and all other things based around it, you will want to visit this place" (Chapter 10). One last example: "After Edward (the Confessor) died, his cousin, Duke William of Normandy, got a hold of the throne, and subsequently, the French, the Normans, invaded England." How this became the second edition despite grammatical errors that even a middle school student can detect is perhaps the book's only remarkable feature.

Disappointment
If you buy the kindle edition for free it is fine, but at 7.99, this 40 page, large print book is a rip off. It is a brief overview of London. It says you can get to the hotel from the airport, but gives no directions. It tells of the travel cards you can purchase but does not tell what they cover. I read the book cover to cover in 20 minutes, and know no more than I knew before I started and I am starved for useful information to use for a trip we are soon planning. There are no illustrations. They refer to "the image below" but it is not there! I got much more information from Tripadvisor than this book.

At least even in just reading feels like I'm also there
London oh London. I always wanted to go here but ever got a chance. That's why I grabbed this book. At least even in just reading feels like I'm also there. And thanks to this book, I never got a chance to regret getting this. It shares a lot about London, from its history, places and attractions, transport, cultures and arts. I cant wait to grab a ticket going there sometime. Would recommend this book especially who loves to travel and never been to London to see how beautiful London is.

The guide also provides fantastic back-history of the city
I’ve been to London several times, thought I’d seen everything, and yet this guidebook enlightened me to new places I’ve never been. The guide also provides fantastic back-history of the city, sure to make any trip more interesting & pleasurable, and also provides the basics: transportation, where to eat, etc. I will definitely be returning to London, and when I do, I’ll be glad to have this book with me.

Everything you need to know about London is here!
London is one of the countries that are on my bucket list. And to have more ideas and to make my visit to this wonderful place a memorable one, I purchased this book. Everything you need to know about London is here! Their historical background, their culture and an endless list of wonderful tourist spots to visit like the ever famous Royal Albert Hall, the Natural Historical Museum and the Royal Botanical Gardens just to name a few. There were also some great tips on where to stay during your entire escapade here, how to get to any of the spots mentioned and also how much it will cost you (from lowest to highest). This is indeed a very handy guide to those who love to travel!
