Better than many others - I have bought three now
Great little night light. Reading is good unless your book is 15 inches tall, in which case the very bottom of the page may be out of range. Importantly, it has no auto-shutoff, so if you fall asleep it keeps going for hours, wearing out the battery and making it dimmer. Anyone who complains about it being too bright simply has to wait a week or two and it'll be half the brightness. And of course it depends on how much you use it - the batteries last a while, maybe a month or two? I love them.

Long overdue review of this wonderful light (7 years for 7 dollars)
I bought the original version of this light in 2015 for $7.00. For the last 7 years I have used it for at least an hour or two every day (I really like to read outside at dusk). It had worked flawlessly during that time: it's plenty bright enough to read by at night; it can clip to almost any size or type of book, and even the weaker rechargeable batteries I use last several months. Finally, a few months ago the slide switch on my original light started to get a little flaky, so I broke down and bought the current model, which is even brighter, has an improved switch, and is still incredibly cheap. I can't think of anything I've ever bought that delivered this much joy for a buck a year.

Great light
This is a dual review. One on Circle Flex light and one on Fulcrum multi flex light.I left my no longer clipping Circle Flex light at our vacation cabin. The clip portion broke but I was still able to slip it behind my Kindle in the case. I bought 2 of them on a closeout sight in Dec 2010. I broke the clip on one immediately and never used it. The second one lasted up until March 2012 before it's clip broke. The plastic the clip is made of is like a lot of hair clips. It's just not strong enough to stand up to the pressure put on it.The Circle flex light took 2032 batteries and was a pretty good light. I would have to position it carefully to reduce glare on my Kindle. I read every night with my light and if I wake up with insomnia so as to not disturb my husband. I felt name brand batteries gave a good life but cannot provide an estimate of time. I was satisfied with the life though.I reordered another circle flex and added a fulcrum since it had good reviews and uses AAA batteries.I tried out the Fulcrum last night. Wow! I love the light it puts out and that it is distributed over the entire page. It is somewhat heavier, but I use a hands free Kindle cover, so I'm not holding that weight. The clip is strong enough to hold it in place, so all is good. So far I prefer this one over the other, but we will see what the battery life is. I will report back on that.09/20/12 Fulcrum battery life updateI am very pleased with this light. Today is the first time since purchase that I have changed the batteries. The light was still pretty strong but I noticed that whenever the flex neck moved it would blink in and out. Now that I've changed the batteries, no more blinking. I read with the light on every night for an hour or more so for it to last 3+ months before it needs new batteries is a huge plus.

After 3 plus Years ..Perfect
Have tried almost every other light on the market. I have used these lights (3 of them in family) every night for over 4 years with no failure! The case holding the 3 batteries is a little large, but no big deal. It is the price you pay for having longer lasting batteries. The positive is that it lasts longer.or from 30 minutes to an hour for over 3 years without failure. We have four of them and only had one failure with a flickering light. They work best for hardcover books but I use them with paperbacks by grabbing a few extra pages with the clamp to stiffen the support.. I, unlike others find the light good for one page at a time and just give a quick tap to read the next page. I have done this for years without any wear on the arm. It takes a little bit of time to get used to using it this way, but no big deal. It is the price you pay for having longer lasting batteries. A good trade-off IMHO. Two had a neutral tint and one was blueish. Because there is only one LED and 3 AAA batteries the charge lasts me about 2-4 weeks before dimming. I Highly recommend the Eneloop batteries by Panasonic with a "smart charger." You can get a pack of 8 and a charger package on Amazon. The batteries are about $2 each but mine have lasted for more than 4 years! If you get the batteries and charger you will never run out of having a charged battery and you can, of course use the batteries for many other devices. A little spendy at first, but it is more convenient and it saves money. Who wants to go out at 10PM to get batteries? The light is very useful for doing mechanical work and repairs in tight spots with the clamp. My wife uses hers for needlepointWho thought a cheap light would be so useful and dependable?

Doesn't Work as Well for Textbooks But Still Good
I bought this reading light because I used to live with roommates and when they would want to sleep, I would still want to read or study. I didn't want to bother them getting their beauty sleep so I bought this book light instead. I bought it almost two years ago and this little lamp lasted me quite a while using non-rechargeable batteries. It lasted me almost a year using the same batteries I put in since the beginning. However, keep in mind, I did not use it constantly so a few times every two weeks or so. One of the reasons why I didn't use it very often was that while it is very bright (brighter than another book light I got), it still was not bright enough for me to use in total darkness. I can read the words on the page, but I would have prefer it to be brighter. And while this light is able to light up entire page for a paperback, it does not do as well for a textbook which I used often since I'm a student. Because of that, I find that I had to constantly move the head around on the same page as well as adjust the lamp once I start reading the next page, which after a while, was a little annoying. The clamp is strong and light so it should work well with most books. Overall, I think this is pretty good book light but for my purposes as a student, it didn't work as well for me.

Fulcrum book light
I bought this one to replace one of my previous Fulcrum book lights. The ones I purchased in a set of two years ago had three LED lights and provided lots of light on the high setting. This light, I was a little disappointed to see, only has ONE LED light. It may say this in the description somewhere but I hadn't noticed it. If clamped on your book, it provides just enough light for reading, but not much else. I didn't bother returning it as it does have it's uses for reading, but I wouldn't re-buy as it's nothing special.

Functional and Made Well
Works as advertised and well at that. I haven't used it for long enough period to test the battery but the beam is fairly wide. The colour of the light is very white with a tinge blue-- which could be improved but it's not the end of the world. So only lost a star because of the colour and because the clip is a little bulky.Still functional.

Buy it, you won't be sorry!
This little light is quite nice. Two things I love about this are it sits on the nightstand without falling over and it clips to the top of paperbacks without pulling the book over or being heavy which makes it great for reading in bed. I tried it with an oversized paperback (trade) and the light illuminated both sides of the book perfectly. It was only $10.74 but it doesn't come with batteries.I will probably buy another for travelling and keep this one at home.EDIT: It's been 7 years now and still going strong!

Great light. Works fine once you figure out it is rechargeable....
I just wrote a poor review on this light. Then I googled it for more information on the device. Should have done that first. Light is fine. No battery I had said in latest review. PLEASE AMAZON disregard. Jumping to conclusions is my only form of exercise. LOL it is a rechargeable unit. No wonder I could not see where to put a battery. DUH
