High quality rolled quinoa--cheaper than in the stores
These quinoa flakes are high quality and are significantly cheaper than anything I can find in store. I\The flakes arrived totally dry and I had no concerns with freshness based on my first impressions. I used these flakes in a seed bread I make and they worked great. They worked as well as the stuff in the store that is double the money per pound. The bag holds 5 lbs of flakes. The general size of the bag can be seen in the photos I have uploaded.Pros:*Half the price per pound compared to local supermarkets*Arrived dry and in good condition*Replaced my normal quinoa flakes in a baking recipe and performed wellCons:*NoneOverall: 5/5 stars (>=.5 rounds up, <.5 rounds down) => 5 starsIf you have any further questions regarding the product in my review please leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Good list price - shipping is crazy
Good product and at face value looks like a great deal / oz but shipping is a killer. $12/shipping. Ugh. My mistake for not reading the shipping cost.

Not the same
This is my third time ordering this product. The first two batches were delicious and a very acceptable substitute for someone who can't eat oats. This most recent batch was nothing like the flakes I'm used to. The appearance was different-they were a light brown rather than the cream/tan color I'm used to. I used the same proportions and method I've used for every previous bowl of "oatmeal" but they cooked up runny and gritty and had an awful dirty/soapy taste. I couldn't make myself finish the bowl. I'm so glad I didn't use them in a recipe! I wish I could return them.

Lover of quinoa flakes
I am enjoying my quinoa flakes. I have made cereal. I have used my flakes to replace flour. It's so many things you can use them with. I just love my flakes. When I received my flakes they was in a bag. Packaged nicely. If you like regular quinoa you will enjoy the flakes.

You get what you pay for... It likely has "fillers" other than quinoa...
I saw this offer and was excited because I had been buying the Ancient Harvest Quinoa Flakes and loved the consistency and taste like normal quinoa (a bit earthy, with the same coloration of quinoa). It was a bit pricy, so I looked for a less expensive replacement.. I ended up buying Shiloh Farms Quinoa Flakes, and I noticed that the contents had pinkish "flakes" in there. I ignored then thinking that it may have been a byproduct of their flaking process. I then had a reaction to the quinoa flakes, but was able to return the product to the seller on Vitacost (the seller's website).I went back to buying Ancient Harvest and began looking for another less expensive replacement.I was excited that I found the D'Allesandro quinoa flakes, because it highly rated and was hopeful that it would be what was described. I received the package promptly in the described/pictured packaging, but noticed some weird qualities of the flakes:* The flakes had an odd "crayon-like" smell* There were pink and black flakes, as well as pink specks throughout the bag.I was hoping that it was just a coincidence as it was similar to the Shiloh Farms bag. So I cooked up a serving with just water and the flakes, and noticed the same things that B.J. West noticed:* It cooks up into a grainy, somewhat bitter-tasting paste similar to the consistency of overcooked oatmeal.I (naively) ate the porridge hoping that the similarities were just superficial, but I had a reaction to the flakes identical to the Shiloh Farms brand. I tried to make another batch with filtered water hoping that the tap water I had previously used was the problem, but had the same results.Basically, it most likely doesn't contain only flaked quinoa, but likely contains some other fillers.
