M MAXIMUMCATCH Maxcatch ECO Large Arbor Fly Fishing Reel (3/4wt 5/6wt 7/8wt) and Pre-Loaded Fly Reel with Line Combo

This is my second fly reel. I bought the 3/4wt size to pair with my Maxcatch 3/4wt rod and it is a perfect fit. The mounting plate is secure and doesn’t wiggle at all. It ordered it with the line pre-spooled, but there is an option to order it empty and spool whatever line you want. The line that came with it was good quality and came with backing, fly line, and a 9 ft tapered leader. Flipping this thing around small creeks is a blast. If you’re new to fly fishing, maxcatch is definitely the way to go for affordable and high quality gear!!

Nice reel for the money. Seems well made and comparable to name brands that cost 3 to 4 times the amount. Drag seems good and adjusts easily. I am using it for warm water flyfishing, so drag not real important. The included fly line seems OK but will probably replace it with my usual brand. However, I would have had the line cost even if I had bought the name brand at 3 to 4 times the cost, so not losing anything. Very happy with purchase. Will just have to see how it holds up over the long haul, but if it only lasts half as long will still be ahead.

I bought this since the handle for my Wetfly Element Starter reel (9’ 5wt rod and reel kit) had a screw that fell out causing the handle to fall off. Contacted Wetfly and they said they don’t have the screw. So I bought this with a $3 protection plan just in case. The reel is almost identical to the Wetfly reel. Pretty generic, but it gets the job done. Good value for the money. However there are some differences. 1. MaxCatch has a clicking drag where the Wetfly is silent. 2. MaxCatch handle doesnt have a screw, just a solid fastener. 3. Branding (The bright orange backing and accents doesnt go with the rod but w/e) 4. Rod to Reel mount- The MaxCatch mount was a bit thicker than the Wetfly so to line everything up right I swapped the mounts. Opened everything up and saw there was not a lot of grease in the bearings. Put some marine grease I had sitting around (super waterproof). Tightened all the fasteners. Hope this will last longer than the Wetfly because of the slightly improved design. Can’t wait to hear the drag screaming. The Wetfly was good when I had it so hope this one is too. I’ll report back if any issues but so far so good.

I've used this reel for a couple seasons now, mostly for Panfish and small Bass. It has worked well. I'd buy again.

Love it!! This fly reel works amazing! Very well built with great quality. Very lite weight and the drag actually works really good!

What does a fly reel do ??? - Depending on the size of the reel and rod it serves, a fly reel does a few things... First, it holds the line on the real spool. Secondly some fly reels have an adjustable "drag" or braking system that makes it more difficult for a hooked fish to get away. The drag helps tire a fish... When I got my first MAXCATCH ECO fly reel I was quite impressed with its good looks as well as function. It was clean, nice looking and had an excellent adjustable drag. I bought my reel in mid Winter and can't wait to use it this spring. I know it is a winner just by looking at it and handling the reel. The drag is easily adjustable with slight dial turns. For the money this reel I rate a 10... "WOODY" - Mr. Fish !

This is my second reel with this company and both reels are awesome. I plan to buy a small reel next time for a future build project in the works. P.S. their rods are good also I bought one last year and love it.
