Air Vent 54703 Auto WHT Gable Shutter, No Size

Love it, except during a heavy wind storm one of the louvers broke off! :(

might be a bit overpriced, but I wanted to replace with the exact same I had before.

Easy to install once a rough opening is cut. Be careful handling this item ... it's not very sturdy till fastened in place. Works well enough. Just be careful - plastic and light weight - has to be for the fan to force it open.

I've purchased several of these over the years (yes, I learn my lessons slowly). The first ones I purchased from a local Lowe's for about $35 but when they stopped carrying them (gee, I wonder why), I bought a couple more from Amazon (I told you I learn my lessons slowly).The pivot points wear through after about 5 years causing the louvers to fall out. The louvers also rattle noisily when the fan is on.I just modified one by gluing 16 penny nails to the louvers as pivots and used some pieces of 12ga electrical wire as a pin to attach the bar that attempts to keep the three louvers moving in unison (notice I used the word attempts). Not sure how long this will last but beats wasting $50 on another one. Unfortunately I cannot find any other replacement to match the cutout in the siding to accommodate these particular louvered vents.

These are perfect replacement gable shutters for our two Air Vent fans that we bought about 10 years ago. They have both been through a hurricane and one lost the connecting rod. Another slat broke just recently on the other shutter. As these are plastic and not metal I think they lasted a long time. The new vents popped right in and I was able to combine the parts for a spare shutter. The price on Amazon was about $9.00 cheaper than at the local home improvement store.

Bought this to replace the same model that was blown out by hurricane Ida. Went in with out a hitch; now waiting for the hot summer sun.

Easy to install.Works perfect on gables for attic ventilation.
