I really don't know what's up with some of the reviews flat out saying it won't hold anything. I'm almost certain they are mounting it upside down, in which case it won't hold, well, anything. This thing operates very smoothly and makes it a snap to tend to my 8 hanging baskets on my patio without a ladder. My only critiques are that it only comes in black (I'd prefer white to blend with the ceiling) and the device looks very mechanical. If it could look less so and more organic or say be encased in a ball-shaped globe, it would be more pleasing to the eye. But for the money, these things work very well.Note to the manufacturer: it would be a big improvement to this device if it could be locked in the down position so that you could remove the hanging basket and not have it return to the cartridge. Otherwise you now have to have a ladder or something to grab the hook to pull it back down to rehang the pot.

I ordered this product in March to hang my mums hanging baskets ... I used them today (3rd June 21) and they are very difficult to operate.. one of the baskets fell immediately to the ground and damage all the plants.. I took the other 3 down Immediately as I was concerned that the baskets would fall on my mum .... very worrying.

One snapped dumping my Hanging Basket with a thud you are supposed to be able to pull these up and down to tend to the baskets I have no faith in these and had I not already hung them up I would be retuning them I would definitely not recommend either the items or the seller I should have read the feedback before I bought them - I have now learned.

Sturdy construction, but the 'lead' didn't lock or snap back on any once the hanging baskets were attached.It wasn't that they were too heavy, they didn't lock even when lighter loads were put on.Others may work, but won't be trying again.

Just put these up they lock and not easy to pull back down which is v annoying sadly as ive had them some time i cant return them but they have mo pulley as once up they lock

Despite repeated attempts with each of four in the pack, the mechanisms are invariably unreliable. Lowers okay but rarely lock when the basket is raised. Perhaps a cheap alternative to a gym membership
