great for a kayak, some quirks
It is a good quality, sturdy little light, so far.... There are a couple quirks, mine came with a clearly wrong battery direction sticker on the inner battery holder. Just look at the individual contacts for each of the 3 batteries, (plate is pos., spring is neg.!) and it's obvious to anyone who has ever put multiple batteries in an electronic device. Another minor gripe is the number of functions; IMO, it needs only 3, flashlight, white 360, and SOS. The 2 strobe functions seem pointless. Also pointless as are the red/ green filters for 'under power' bow lighting. This light really isn't designed to be a bow light, and is quite distracting on a kayak that doesn't even require one. I removed the colored filters from mine, and tossed them. If you need a bow light for a powered boat, this is NOT the light you want. Actually, this is not a light for a powered boat, bow or stern, PERIOD! All that said, for a kayak, canoe, or rowboat, it's great.

Could have been a great light. It is not. It is kind of ok.
So close. The engineers could haveade a superb product but they didn't. The light is bright and sturdy and easy to use.Now the flaws:1. Colored lenses are not centered on the LEDs. You will always see white and the color.2. Not fully 360. There are three less on a side. Three go left. Three go right. None go forward not back.3. The color lenses just pop off with a flick.4. Each color lens goes almost 180 degrees. No white in the aft as there should be.5. The red lens is maroon.I am disappointed. It could have been perfect. It wouldn't have taken much. Just 10 more minutes fixing the design before having it made.Don't think this will meet any regulations for a tricolor masthead lighe let alone three color lights, but it should be sufficient in most cases as an added light for safety on a paddled or rowed small dinghy. And WTF is "Sheerness" in the ratings?? Why does thickness count? I need tough/waterproof, bright, proper coverage, and the right colors. Seller: please do better.

Worthless suction cup fell off both times I used it. Lost.
I was skeptical of the very shallow suction cup and the very stiff, plasticky material, but gave it a go. I pressed it on firmly, gave it a little tug and shoved off. Turned around a minute later and it was gone. Finished my paddle and returned to the beach where it was sitting underwater (IT DOESN'T FLOAT!!!). Second time, I was even more careful putting it on. It lasted a couple minutes this time, but now it's gone in deep water. Why would anyone make a paddling light that doesn't float and can't stay suctioned to the deck? Money lost.

RETURNED
The product was what I was looking for however the suction cup on the unit base would not stick to the rear of my kayak. There is no other way to attach a light to the back of the yak unless you want to start drilling holes. If you purchase this; just make sure your application has a smooth, flat surface for the suction cup to bite to.Either way, be sure to put a lanyard on it as well; just in case the cup gives way due to a swell or anything else.

1 of 2 didn't work out of the box - other one was excellent
Bought 2 of these to kayak at night on the river. One didn't work right out of the box. I used a multimeter to isolate the short to the battery compartment (removable battery carriage). Amazon is going to replace it for free, but it's a bummer it didn't work last night when I needed it.However, the one that did work was great. Nice and bright so it can be seen from long distances. Also, when we were getting out of the water, the light fell of the kayak into the water and stayed lit the whole 5 seconds it was under water, so it is water resistant. I would blame the suction cup for it falling off, but I didn't have it suctioned to a sturdy surface.

Works fine once you figure it out. Price is well worth the struggle.
Like that is works as noted and 1/4 the price of other kayak lights. Problems: Nothing earth shattering - only an inconvenience. Battery indicator arrows are wrong so load a battery as normal and don't' look at the arrows for guidance. Insert battery hold in as it only allows to fit - again don't follow the arrows. Rubber suction does not work at all (on a plastic coated kayak or its rubber components) but I use cords and a clip to keep it straight. Don't know if its waterproof or water resistance because I have not dunked myself. I have used it maybe 10 times for night paddles and the light is super bright and can be seen by many. I paid less than $15 and it is fine and works well for the price., If you expect perfection - spend the $60 for a better brand. I'm happy with my $15 purchase.

Dont trust the suction cup alone, tie it to boat.
I got this for my kayak. I lost it the first time I used it! It apparently doesn't float! On hot days sometimes I'll row out and jump out for a swim. It was getting dark so I stuck it on the front while I was in the water. When I was climbing back in it fell off and was gone 🙁. You would think a boating tool would be made to float. Don't be me. Tie it to the boat as well just in case cas the suction cup sucks, no pun intended. I didn't rate the brightness because I didn't even get to use it in the dark.

360 light is not really 360 degrees
It’s ok unless you want a 360 light. The 360 function is just the colored lights with the filter lenses removed. That means that you get 2 distinct beams 180 degrees apart and very little light elsewhere. Frustratingly, it does have a very good 360 degree strobe but there is no way to have it continuously lit. As such this unit is not suitable for use as a stern light
