Not for Everyone who Loves the Qur'an; Just Right for Some
Don't read this book expecting some sort of scholarly exegesis of the Holy Qur'an or some kind of explanation of all the political aspects of the current state of the Muslim World. If you are not a Muslim, you may have to engage in a little bit of "suspension of disbelief" to begin to feel and appreciate the intentions of this work, which is to bring into focus for the reader the gentleness and the all-encompassing nature of the Qur'an. Like the Torah and the Bible, the Qur'an is rooted in Abrahamic beliefs, and the three Holy Books are united by those historical and cultural ties. Most people reading this book will come away with a deep sense of the peace that deep faith in God can bring to life. It also would be a good book for advanced Bible/Quran study groups, for finding common stories of Abraham, Noah, Moses and Jesus, and doing some comparative reading and thinking. Excellent for churches trying to bring about deeper inter-faith understanding of Islam, the religion of one-quarter of our Earth's peoples.
