I just finished the Witch's Kitchen puzzle tonight and I loved it. I spent a few hours a day, for three days, working mostly alone, my husband helped assemble a little bit, and I solved the riddles on my own. It was my first time doing a Ravensburger escape puzzle and I'm looking forward to doing more BUT I also do a lot of escape room games, treasure hunts, and "point and click" adventure video games with hidden objects, riddles and brain teasers. If that's not your thing, then this puzzle probably won't make a lot of sense to you. It's still a lovely jigsaw, even without the "escape" riddle part of it, but it is not quite like other jigsaw puzzles. 1) Unlike some jigsaw puzzles, there are no letters or clues on the back, such as "AAAAAA" or "BBBBBB" etc, and it doesn't come with a poster to lay down on the table as a guide. 2) The picture on the box is not exactly the same as the picture in the completed puzzle, though it is close enough that I still found it very helpful. 3) The edge pieces are cut so they are interchangeable. The internal pieces are not this way, just the edges, so it makes assembling the border a challenge, but not impossible. The puzzle dimensions are on the box, which helps. I put together most of the border, but not all of it, and then started working on the inside for awhile. A lot of people are posting that the solution is incorrect but I didn't have a problem with it. It didn't even occur to me that there was anything wrong until I came here to rate the puzzle and I read the other reviews. I don't want to give answers or spoilers, so I'll just say this: The solution is to IDENTIFY the antidote. If you've done that, nothing else matters.

I have done three different ones of these. They are fun to put together and even more fun to solve the puzzles. I have seen in other reviews that people have problems but I haven't had any issues with this brand at all. Of the 3 I've done , this one was my favorite, both the putting together and the solving. Will buy more of these.

First of all, this is a nice one for the Halloween season, but not so cliched as to be untouchable the rest of the year. The "escape" code-breaking and number sequence puzzles that you can do after putting the jigsaw together are pretty simple, but you don't have to do them to enjoy this if you like the content of the picture itself. The final image is different than on the box in a few places, which is amusing, but the best thing is that the amount of details makes it relatively easy to assemble. I only resorted to shape matching for the last 10% or so of the pieces. Yes, there are few false positive fits, but that's part of the fun...

This is a fun puzzle with a really beautiful finished picture. I didnt mind the puzzle being slightly different from the cover of the box (although I agree... bummer there is no cat). I enjoy the added challenge with the interchangeable border pieces. The quality is always high with this company. I demerit a star based on the Exit-riddle challenge. I agree it falls short and could have been way more creative. It's mostly simple math problems and it was a bit confusing having (spoiler) two clues on one item. Exit game aside- it's still a lovely image to work on.

We loved, loved, loved this puzzle! It was challenging, which makes it interesting. My daughter and I had so much fun trying to figure it out. A lot of times we had to re-work parts that seemed to fit but didn't make sense. Guessing what the new scene was also added to the fun. But, figuring out the clues and finding the answer put this puzzle over the top! We will definitely be buying more of these. What's the fun in doing an easy puzzle anyway?

This puzzle started out extremely frustrating because all of the edge pieces fit together to each other even if they are wrong. After we suffered through and got the edge finally assembled, the puzzle itself was pretty fun and the pieces mostly fit together well. And then we started the fun of figuring out all the clues and solving them...we did need to use some tips from the website but were able to figure it out for the most part and had a lot of fun. UNTIL we couldn't get the answer piece to fit with the other pieces. We worked for hours and kept thinking we must have done something wrong and didn't have the correct answer. Finally we gave in and opened the secret envelope to reveal the answer and we did have the right answer! Except our pieces weren't cut right and they wouldn't fit together. This was extremely disappointing and frustrating and left us feeling like we wasted hours and hours on something that didn't even work. I would definitely not purchase another one of these and risk the answer not even working after you do all the work of figuring out the clues.

This was my first Ravensburger escape puzzle. Like other Ravensburger puzzles this is a high quality puzzle. As others have stated, do not to start with the border because all border pieces fit with each other. The picture is similar to that on the box which was helpful to put the puzzle together. I was only able to solve one riddle myself without clues and then was able to mostly solve the others with clues. There is one though that I can't see how they went from the clues to the final answer. As others have stated, the instructions are not very clear. After solving the eight riddles I still didn't know how to "solve" the overall mystery. When I opened the clue and finally understood the objective, my final piece didn't fit even when I follow the picture exactly. Now when I go back and read the other reviews more thoroughly I see that several people have mentioned this defect and yet Ravensburger is still selling this puzzle. I'm still willing to give it three stars because now that I understand the concept better I am willing to try another one and hope that the product defect is only for this version.

It lived up to its name. Truely an escape. There was a mystery envelope that you could open that helped if you needed it. Plus you you had a WR code to a website to help. Without telling you the details some items were missing and some were added into the puzzle! if you enjoy puzzles you’ll most likely enjoy this one;) best of luck;)
