The most accessible edition of Sun Tzuโs military strategy treatise, The Art of War โperfect for martial arts enthusiasts and anyone looking to enhance their leadership and strategic thinking skills. This step-by-step guide breaks down the original Art of War into 200 digestible lessons that will help you get a competitive edge in all your endeavors. Composed in the 5th century BC, Sun Tzu's Art of War is the earliest-known treatise on military strategy, and is still hugely popular around the world for its perceptive tactical advice to commanders on how to win at war with minimal bloodshed. Aimed at all those who want to study the text in depth, this is the first step-by-step guide to the famous treatise. It breaks down the 13 chapters of the original into 200 easily digested lessons, including: โข Do not press a desperate enemy โข Control your troops through bond of loyalty โข When you are weak, beware attack Each lesson is accompanied by comprehensive commentary and clarified with around 250 illustrations. This ultimate guide to Art of War includes the classic 1910 translation by Lionel Giles and commentary that takes into account all academic interpretations of the text, highlighting differences between modern translations as well as the perspectives of historical Chinese commentators. No other edition compares and contrasts the viewpoints of different contemporary translators, or explains exactly what each section of this often enigmatic text actually means. Review: Good Interpretation - This book is not the Art of War, but rather a concise summary and interpretation. I found the authors insights to be valuable. Itโs a good addition to material about the Art of War. I recommend this book. Review: What makes this version good? - Have a couple versions of Tsun Tzu. This is the most readable/understandable version that I have encountered. It is very clear to the point translation of concepts presented by the original author.

About so much more than warfare
This is a very easy to read translation of Sun Tzu's Art of War, and it is a book about so much more than warfare. The concepts Sun Tzu explores are relatable to any type of conflict that all too often arise in human interactions.

A worthy add to any home library!
This book is by far the best text I have ever read on Sun Tsu's Art of War. The illustrations and practical explanations are simple and incredibly accessible. Anthony Cummins hasn't just created another translation he has opened a door to classical strategy for the every man/woman. I highly suggest adding this book to any classical or military home library. Well done Ant!

Not to be read like a novel
This is a book to dip in and out of and ponder the teachings. You can see the tactics of Saddam Hussein, Trump, Churchill, and many other leaders in trying to achieve their goals. It reflects the arcane art of Politics and the brutal nature of war - success and survival but not just in the short term, and that is the trick that many fail to grasp of winning the battle but losing the war. The book shows that these ideas are not new but many in power today have never grasped because they have not been taught such ideas, which are the brutal facts of conflict and why many conflicts have failed (like the USA in Vietnam). Very insightful. It would be an interesting exercise to translate these teachings to a modern warfare scenario.

Itโs not what I was looking for
Itโs not exactly what I was looking for I was looking for a book that puts the art of war into modern situations. I read this one as I was on holiday and tbh it was actually good and interesting just not what I was expecting.
