Not the healthiest food but my husband loves this quick meal with mashed potatoes. Tastes good Thats about it.Very salty though so not the best for anyone with HBP In my opinion.

As a child of the 70's and 80's, having a frozen tv dinner was so common, my friends and I were often caught debating the best ones and our favorite brands. Banquet was a major player back then and we all had a preferred way of preparing ours, microwaves not an option yet bc the dinners came in aluminum foil trays, not the paper they come in now. And they tasted different. Maybe it's my memory that has me romanticizing the frozen foods of my childhood or maybe there was some actual change in recipes but something happened between the 90's and now that made eating frozen dinners less enjoyable. So imagine my surprise when purchasing this box of Banquet Salisbury Steaks for a 1986 price expecting the bland flavor and strange texture I recalled from my last time buying a Banquet meal. Instead of meh I was wowed! It isn't five star steakhouse quality but it is a definite upgrade from whatever they were doing ten years ago and I'm liking the improvement very much. First of all, the taste is much better but so is the texture. Instead of the mushy fake veggie-meat texture from my last experience, I was chewing something meaty that didn't break down into mealy bits of gristle and grain. The gravy isn't thick but it lacked the metallic taste that used to linger nor did it leave behind a strange oily film on the plate that made me question what I just ate. The improvements are grand and I'm so happy to have an entree that I can throw in the oven or the microwave, feed my family by adding some mashed potatoes and a vegetable all for less than$5! Great buy, especially when budget is tight but stomachs need filling

My hardworking adult son really likes this. He heaps it up with canned peas and microwave rice. I buy a lot of these for the freezer when the price is right. I'm sure it's low quality with far too much salt. It's an easy filling couple of meals that has enough to keep him going. It's sort of a throwback meal, like hotdogs He looks forward to this as much as any fancy food.
