Miracle Frooties are sooooo cool
Like most people, I was skeptical about trying Frooties. I read a lot of articles about the product and watched many You Tube videos. Curiosity finally got the best of me and I placed my order. My order arrived today. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they included a free Frootie in with my invoice as a thank you. I started by lining up a host of items: Lime wedges, Lemon Wedges, Star Fruit slices, Pure Vitamin C powder (incredibly sour), Plain Greek Yogurt, Sour Cream, Brussels Sprouts, Red Wine Vinegar, Tabasco Sauce & Vodka. I popped my Frootie in my mouth and swished it around for about 3 minutes. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to swallow my saliva so I just held it in my mouth the whole time then spit when I was done. First, the lemon wedge. I took a bite and my eyes lit up. It tasted like a lemon that someone had rolled in powdered sugar. It was sublime. Next I tried the Lime wedge. Again, you taste the lime but it tastes like a lime candy. I started laughing. The Star Fruit tasted almost like a soft apple. It was sweet and had a mild crunch. I ended up eating about 4 slices of that. I mixed the vitamin c powder into a glass of water. When I took a mouthful, I naturally expected a very sour taste. Instead, it tasted like a light lemonade. I was so curious that I actually stuck my finger directly into the Vitamin C powder and tasted it. It tasted like a Pixi Stick. The Greek yogurt tasted tart still, but had a very pleasant sweet taste. What surprised me the most was the sour cream. It tasted like a really creamy frosting...hard to explain but I had 3 teaspoons of it! The Brussels sprouts tasted like chestnuts. I really enjoyed their flavor. The Tabasco sauce almost tasted like a V8 juice EXCEPT the tip of your tongue can still sense the heat. So it was sweet, but the tip of my tongue told me otherwise. I now realize why people shake it onto their tongue in the videos. The red wine vinegar still smelled very much like vinegar as I brought it to my mouth. I had a hard time with that one. But when it hit my tongue, it tasted like a port. It is nothing I would drink, but I had to take a sip out of curiosity. At this point I was starting to worry that my stomach was going to pay me back, but it felt completely fine. I journeyed on and tried a small sip of vodka, which simply tasted like water. There wasn't much of a taste. I imagine if you squeezed lemon juice into it, you would probably have a fantastic "lemon-drop". After my tasting spree I cleaned everything up, got a glass of water and went into the other room. About 1 hour later I found myself going back to see what a Brussels sprout tastes like without the frootie. I bit into one and it still tasted like a roasted chestnut. To check myself I bit a small wedge of lime and it too still tasted like lime candy. The effect was still working after more than one hour. I got online to order another package because I have organized a "Flavor Tripping Party" which is what these parties are called when you pop a frootie and serve all these bizarre foods. If you've got an adventurous spirit, give them a try. I hope my ramblings have helped answer someone's questions and motivated someone else to give them a try.

Interesting...
Great product. When I opened the package, I found out that the people who sell them gave me an extra bonus tablet, so I decided to use it that very night. I didn't have too much foods in stock to test them on, but I did what I could. By themselves, the tablets really don't taste like anything. I picked up a sour or sweet note every now and then, but it was bland for the most part. It took around 2-3 minutes to dissolve. I also cleaned my tongue prior to testing. Cantaloupe Melon - Not much of a change. I noticed that it was slightly sweeter, as if someone sprinkled a pinch of sugar onto it. Orange - Probably my favorite. It took cheap oranges that have been sitting around for who knows how long, and turned them into probably the best oranges I've ever had. It didn't have the taste of confectionery sugar like the cantaloupe did, but the sweetness blended in perfectly. Lemon - Another great experience. I actually had two lemons. One was really old and on the verge of drying out, and the other was freshly sent to me from my aunt's lemon trees in California (I live in CT). The old lemon wasn't half bad, but it was a lot more sour than the fresh one. The fresh one was juicy. It tasted like a lemon head with a bit more of a sour note. If I had mixed it with some water, I'm pretty sure it would've been the best lemonade I've ever had. Tomato - Interesting. Like the cantaloupe, it didn't change too much. But I could definitely taste the sweetness. It's probably like two pinches of sugar this time. Blueberries - A runner up. Great flavor. Insanely sweet, and the blueberry flavor intensified by quite a bit. Really enjoyed these. Black Chinese Vinegar - I'd stay away from this one. Just use normal distilled vinegar. The Black Vinegar only had a hint of sour left, and a peculiar sweetness replaced it (not in a good way). I really don't know how to explain it. It was like the sweetness of fermented rice and a cup of sugar. Salt and Vinegar Chips - Takes the edge off of the vinegar, and it adds a slight sweetness. Not bad, but I'd much rather just eat the chips without the tablet.

Unripe Fruit? No Problem!
I had seen these and finally broke down and purchased a package, because I was too intrigued. I mainly purchased these so I could throw a flavor tripping party for some friends and family, but I was skeptical of how well they would actually work. To say I was blown away is an understatement. Half a pill works equally as well as a whole one, so make sure you cut these in half. You must absolutely let these dissolve all over your tongue otherwise the effect will be little to none (my dad found that out the hard way when he bit into a lemon). The taste of the pills is pretty icky in my opinion and dry like cardboard, but the results are totally worth it. I've found that the effects of the pill last a bit longer than 30 minutes. These do not alter the taste of foods; dark beer is not going to taste like chocolate (been there, done that), but anything with a sour or a bite to it will instantly become a delectable flavor trip. Lemons, grapefruit (which I hate), and granny smith apples are my top favorites. Sour cream does taste similar to cheesecake only not near as sweet, but interesting. Regular baking cocoa powder becomes tolerable, and apple cider vinegar...well it was unique although I think it tasted better without the pill! Really, you can use a bunch of foods to try rather than just fruits or veggies, but remember that the more bitter something is the better the effect will be. If you are like me and have a hard time eating fruit when it is out of season, this is your answer right here. I just ate a bunch of raspberries and a granny smith apple, and the taste was amazing and almost too sweet. For the price, these are expensive if you plan to purchase on a regular basis. These are definitely a novelty item, but experiment till your hearts desire. Final note: If you eat too much citrus or hot stuff, it will bite you back later. At too many lemons the first go around, and I had a stomachache from hell! Note: I did NOT receive this product for free or a discount. I paid for this product in full with my own money.

A Review from a Customer Mid-Flavor Trip
It's the new thing. Anybody who is *anyone* has at least heard of the glamorous life of flavor tripping. With this new fruit (suspiciously called "Miracle Berries"), changing your taste buds to something totally out-of-this-world is just one ridiculously priced produce away! However, with this "Frooties" brand, things become much, much, much cheaper. A 15$ berry becomes a 15$ pack of 10 tablets. That's about $1.50 per trip (or per person if you're having a party. As you can probably tell from my title, I just took one of these and am actually trying these fruits while I write this. But before I get to the good stuff, let's go through some before prep. As another reviewer noted, these things work best when your tongue is clean. So, invest in a tongue scraper. Trust me, these things are great for even non-miracle-berry events. Any will do, but here are a few amazon.com products: BreathRx Tongue Scraper (3 Scrapers) and Dr. Tung's Products: Stainless Steel Tongue Cleaner . Choose whatever feels comfortable to you. Now for preparation, you'll want to have a lot of fruit (maybe some vegetables, too) on hand.I recommend Lemons, Limes, Blueberries, Strawberries, maybe even a juicer if you're adventurous. Yogurt can be fun too. In order to "use" this product, you have to leave it on your tongue for a while and roll it around until it dissolves. This can take anywhere from 5-10 minutes, which isn't totally bad, except it is when you're actually taking the tablets. These tablets taste kind of like hard, disgusting raisins, and the gross flavor stays the same the whole time its on your tongue, so I was actually unsure if it was working or not until I started trying stuff. And here we go. First I tried the strawberries, because I have them right on hand, and other reviewers said they were good. These people are not lying. The first few tasted like strawberries with insane amounts of sugar dumped on them. But after a while, that sweet flavor started to taste more "splenda" than "sugar", so I moved on. I tried a few blueberries next, which were little pops of great flavor. They were much more mild than the strawberries were, and I think these might have tasted the best. I did the usual else too: licking lemons, limes, sour stuff. All tastes like you'd expect under the influence of this stuff: absolutely sweet. I'm into dieting fads and stuff so I also had a store of "Sassy Water" on hand. If you don't know what Sassy Water is, its a diet-enhancing beverage that is essentially purified water that has lemon, ginger, cucumber, and mint in it. It tastes fine by itself, but I sipped a few drops with the Miracle Berries. And DANG. It tasted like pure lemonade or something! I think the genius of this stuff is in its inherent ability to make "healthy", "organic", and "pure" stuff taste good. There is definatelyt a budding avenue for dieting with this product. But what bugs me about this product is for, basically, everything I ate, I could only eat a few of that fruit or vegetable until it started tasting totally like splenda or sweet n' low. Which was kind of a bummer, and I think that's why these haven't exactly mainstreamed yet. The gross, artificial sweetener taste over-rules the nice, sweet taste of the first bite, and pervades the entire mouth. I actually lost my appetite after I drank two glasses of Sassy Water. Maybe it was from all the fruit and water in one sitting, but the artificial sweetener aftertaste ruined it. Ultimately, this is a great product that does what it advertises: it makes sour foods taste sweet. That should sell it alone. Unfortunately, however, this is a pricey and kind of superficial treat, one that quickly runs thin after a few bites of anything. If you get the chance to try these, don't pass them up, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to purchase them again. 3.5 out of 5 Stars

It kind of works.
For reference, I bought this from Funky Food Shop and it was fulfilled by Amazon. Shipping The 2 boxes arrived in a single bubble mailer within a week. The boxes weren't perfect in that they looked like something heavier was sitting on the envelope they were in during the shipping process. I've only opened one box so far, but in that box, all the tablets were intact. Packaging Cardboard/paperboard boxes contained an airtight pouch. Inside the pouch were the tablets in foil and plastic container/sheet. It resembled how cough medicine pills were packaged. Each pill was separated from each other, so you don't have to use them all at once. Perforated edges allow you to give give or take however many you want to go without breaking out the scissors, while maintaining freshness. The Tablets about 3/8 in. or .95cm wide about 6/8 in. or 1.91cm long ThinkGeek lists the dimensions on their product page, but not the weight. While their tablets are circular, these ones are more oval-shaped. The shape is almost like a diamond shape with rounded edges. Breaking them for the regular dosage may result in uneven pieces sometimes and a slight chance of small pieces breaking off the edges. The edges aren't as thick - that's why. The tablets are almost like the circular ones, but with wings. When received, they still had about 19 months left to use. Using Them I tried it with some friends at a buffet - a good place if you don't want to buy and prep all the food yourself. The buffet was researched to see if they had food that would supposedly be affected too. None of us had really been there before though, so we don't know what the usual taste/quality of the food is. Using the whole tablet (a double dose), the tablets only lasted our small group about 20 minutes before we had to take another one. We made made sure to swirl it around your tongue for a minute, making sure to coat all the taste buds too. 1/2 a tablet lasted about the same, maybe 5 minutes shorter. I recommend taking half tablets to make the supply last longer. We all agreed lemons had the most noticeably different taste. They really did taste like lemonade. I recommend having a lot of them for 2 reasons. 1) People will go through a good amount 2) They can be used to tell if you're taste buds are still affected. Kind of like a control variable. One other person and I had lemonade. With the altered tasted buds, it tasted the same to me, but sour to the other person. We determined we had different taste buds. In total, the group had about 4 different tasted buds. For example, ketchup tasted either the same, sour, sweet, or spicy, depending on the person. I'll start listing other food I had along with their results and other results if available. Taste affected: Yes: Strawberries - sweeter to everyone in our group Fajita Chicken - not (kinda) spicy like it usually is to me Apple Pie - not sweet at all to us, kind of bland BBQ - slightly sweeter to me, some kinds not spicy Raisins - different taste, not sure how to describe Kind of: Radishes - not as bitter to me Pickles - maybe a little sweeter. I'm not sure if they were dill or sweet, though. Olives - I usually don't like olives, they didn't taste as bad, but still not good Red and White Vinegar - didn't taste like apple juice to anyone like it's supposedly supposed to, some very slight apple flavor to me, it still kind of burns your throat Jalepeños - not to me, but not as spicy to someone else No: Raw Carrots Tomatoes Pineapple Watermelon If going to a buffet, you can make some small cards with a list of food that should/might taste different as a guide, cheat sheet, or checklist. Conclusion: They can be considered expensive. While they are about $0.70 a serving, they last about 15-20 minutes. It's interesting, but not amazing (except the lemons). It can differ from person-to-person. It's better to do this with friends/family. The actual berry might last longer, but this is a much cheaper alternative.

Frooties have maltodextrin = of blood sugar spikes = weight gain
I have really been enjoying using the frooties instead of the dried miracle berries themselves because they don’t have the husk that Miracle berries do which get stuck in the teeth. Unfortunately I just found out today that Frooties have maltodextrin which cause sugar spikes and gas problems and studies have shown it can lead to Crohn’s disease. I urge this company to change to using Stevia instead, which does not have these problems. I’m still considering what I should do about this. To start I will be looking for other sources of the berry tablets without maltodextrin. I will also call the company to urge them to get rid of the maltodextrin. I encourage you to do the same for your health sake. - Addition November 2024 (from Healthline.com) - “Studies suggest that maltodextrin can change your gut bacteria composition in a way that makes you more susceptible to disease. It may suppress the growth of probiotics in your digestive system, which are important for immune system function.” - The same study suggests that maltodextrin can increase the growth of bacteria such as E. coli, which is associated with autoimmune diseases like Crohn’s disease. - A 2019 review Trusted Source suggests that maltodextrin can impair intestinal mucus release, which can increase the risk of colitis. - the latest studies confirm and add to these concerns There are other miracle berries sold on Amazon that do not have Maltodextrin, like “mberry Miracle Berry Tablets” which do not have that dangerous ingredient. I have switched to these mberries today.. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001LXYA5Q/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1? I would hold the Frooties tablets in mouth for 3 minutes and there was always a great sweetening effect…no time, no dime! It has worked for everyone I shared them with. If you want less sweet effect you can hold the berries just for a minute, or if time is short. And I cut the Frooties berries in half and they still worked at half the cost, if held for one to 3 minutes on tongue. Will be getting my first order of this other brand, the “mberry” in this week, but I’m thinking they should work the same money saving way when using them halved - I will add a comment to the contrary here if they don’t. I always carry them when I go out, and I’ve never have to have a Coke at a restaurant that is made from the bottom of the dispenser barrel so they’re barely sweet!

Performed as expected
I was hoping to find a powdered version but settled with the tablets. We found that it was better to chew them down and let the granules melt on your tongue. After half of a tab was taken, we noticed a change in the taste of certain foods, but I think it might have taken a full tab to get the effect completely for some of the more intense foods. I have to admit that I don't like the resulting flavors. There's this kind of faux sweet, kind of nasty, artificial sweetener tinge to everything I tried and it left me feeling a little off, but I don't feel it was the product's fault or deficiency, so much as my personal tastes. Because of that, I rate the product with five stars because it did everything that was advertised. I only mention the distaste for its, um, taste, in case there is anyone else who feels ill from fake sugar flavors. The tabs don't actually have artificial sweeteners in them, but the taste effect they produce tastes (to me) reminiscent of foods seasoned with fake sugars. So sure, it's fun to try out a flavor trip, but unless you have serious designs to use this product for diabetic or dieting reasons, playing the 'taste game' hardly warrants the headache you get as you try to scrub the horrible memory of what balsamic vinegar chased with Equal tastes like from your tongue. Never... never... try balsamic vinegar on miracle fruit, even if you don't mind that Sweet'N Low flavor. So, the point is, if you can drink diet sodas, eat sugar free gum, and other artificial sugars without trouble, then the effect of foods on miracle fruit probably won't bother you. But if you're one of those people who can sense fake sugar in something a mile away and it gives you a major headache, then you might feel like me when I say 'weee, that was fun, but not really worth it.' and never try it again. It is fun to offer them to your guests though, and let them enjoy them, though.

Fun at first, but then it was terrible
These tablets work to a certain degree. When I tried out the miracle berry for the first time, I had a small assortment of snacks that prepared: lemon, Granny Smith apple, black olives, hot sauce, and one Guinness Extra Stout for my Father to try. When sucking on the tablet, it barely tasted like anything. There was a slight sweetness, which I guess means the miracle berry itself should have been bitter if not for the special protein it carries. The product worked; sliced lemon was sweetened, sour note was gone on the apple, olives....I really didn't like sweetened, BUT hot sauce was a palette-cleanser. Dad couldn't tell me if the Guinness turned "chocolaty" or not because, 1) He never tried the Stout before that day, and 2) He already thought Guinness tasted like chocolate already. The reason why I hate it: The first flavor trip I had that night, I tried so much, so fast that I believed to have overwhelmed my senses. I was a little sickened by the flavors, they were so intense. A few days later, I tried it again with just lemon, and I discovered something. The fruit tasted like it was artificially sweetened. After that, I tried a small slice of apple; same thing. I grabbed a bite here and there of a sour /or bitter food item while the effects were still in full swing. Not only was the sweet effect said 'chemical' to my taste buds, but for every product it was the SAME kind of sweetness. There was no change in the foods underneath. Just the same, overpowering, cover-up flavor over whatever food had been tried. That's what overwhelmed me the first time, and grossed me out the second. I ended up giving the rest of the tablets to a coworker who wanted to try the miracle berry. I have yet to hear back from them.

Buy it.
These are ridiculous! Fruits [raspberry, oranges, blackberries] taste like the freshest, ripest, most sweet version they can be. Lemon juice tastes like lemonade and lime juice tastes like frozen lime concentrate. These are amazing. Only downside [i'm just impatient, it's not even a downside] is that the little tablets take 5-10 minutes to full dissolve on your tongue because you can't chew them. Amazing, I will 100% order more when I'm out!

So much fun. Lemon juice tastes like lemonade
So much fun. Lemon juice tastes like lemonade. I could easily drink lots of it. Limes were delicious. Store bought strawberries (you know the ones that just taste so-so) tasted super ripe and sweet. We even tasted(not drank) apple cider vinegar. It was very strong in flavor but OK. Pickles tasted the same however. Took TUMS after our experience (all that acid) to ensure our stomachs would be OK.

Decent but not as good as I was expecting.
They taste pretty bad but it does change the taste of sour foods! However, there is a certain feeling on your mouth, kind of like when you are sick and you have this unpleasant feeling on your tongue. There is a sort of numbness towards the product. A bit hard to explain. Overall, I wasn't very impressed and this was just a one-time experiment. Definitely try it if you never did but it isn't as good as I expected it to be.

Fun but strange
Works decently enough, very strange sensation. I drank some of that lemon juice thing you're supposed to use for cooking and it tasted semi-sweet. It was really weird but I couldn't really stop drinking it, nor did I want to. It lasts about an hour but is only in full effect for around 30 minutes. Really good fun to try with some friends if you're into that sort of thing. Cons are that it takes a while to dissolve in your mouth (you don't just swallow it) and it does not last very long). .
