Does the size meet carry-on limits?

Yes I have been able to get it on every flight I have been on...but always check with the airline you are flying to make sure that the smaller commuter planes can handle this size in the overhead bins.

Can this be trusted as a checked bag for international travel? I'm taking a shopping trip and need an extra bag to stuff with new clothes. Thanks

I have checked this on many domestic and international flights. I pack it folded up into my regular luggage, and then fill it with dirty clothes for the flight home. This leaves room in my hard sided luggage for purchases and souvenirs.. It’s an awesome bag and I’ve never had a problem checking it.

I wouldn't check it. airlines now charge you to abuse your luggage. BUT if you pack it in your luggage and buy a lot of souvenir goodies you could definitely carry it on. I just used mine for the first time on 2 flights one small commuter and a large plane it will fit in the overhead but I would have crushed it to get it under either seat.
