Gula Jawa Sugar tastes amazing by itself! I love this product and I will definitely be purchasing it again. It smells kind of like bread baking in the oven. It has a waxy texture, and dark brown color. Most important Gula Jawa tastes incredible! This palm sugar has a toasty, caramel, butterscotch flavor. I have made 6 banana nut breads and 3 bundt cakes with this product. It gives my tea and baked goods an incredible flavor second to none! If you are surfing the web confused about all the different palm sugar choices, Gula Jawa is more expensive but you get what you pay for. The seller packaged this product with the utmost care. There were extra bonus gifts that arrived with my package and I received my goods way before the promise date. I am very pleased with this seller and this product. I will be purchasing from this seller in the near future.

My Indonesian wife was skeptical of the product when I ordered it because most "palm sugars" are not the Indonesian type. I ordered anyway and my wife was thrilled when she tasted it...just like back in Indonesia she said...and now she can make her favorite authentic Indonesian recipes! Hard as a rock is the way it is in Indonesia and the way that it is supposed to be if authentic. If you do not like the sugar very hard, buy another, not authentic palm sugar.

Loved it! Tastes just like the original from Indonesia. I used it for rujak and grilled chicken which turned out amazing. I saw some reviews mentioning that it’s too hard; just pop it in the microwave for 10–15 seconds to soften it up before using.

This product is rock hard I wanted coconut Palm sugar this feel and tastes like lots of sugar has been and the supplier does not want to refund the money. A mazon said that the supplier will respond in 48 Hours and it has been several daysand I have not had a replier. subsequently I ordered coconut Palm sugar from the same supplier, Brand name Gula Java. This is the same and nothing like what I have had in the past. I would never order this brand again.

The taste is slightly different from what I had back to my home town. Overall it is a decent Gula Jawa

I fell in love with Gula Melaka when I was in Singapore with my fiance last year. This palm sugar is similar enough. I have used it in oatmeal, chendol, and just this past week when he was craving kaya butter and we couldn't buy it in the States so I just made some for him.
