Harbinger Training Grip Non-Wristwrap Weightlifting Gloves with TechGel-Padded Leather Palm (Old Style), Small

I've been lifting for over 20 years and I like the feeling of control/comfort a good pair of gloves affords me. As of late however, I developed a cyst on the palm of my left hand which impacted my daily routine. I read the reviews on this glove and most people said it was heavily padded which was something I wanted. I've used Harbinger before and they seemed to last although they weren't as padded as these are. I was concerned about what size to order, so I went with what I used with the previous Harbingers I owned - large. Well, they are well-padded for sure and may be a little uncomfortable for some people but they did the trick for me. I can hardly feel the cyst and I think they actually enhanced my workout by providing a much better grip. I've been using them for about 3 weeks now and they seem to be wearing well and provide the support I need. They feel a little stiff at first but as you use them they become more comfortable. The glove seems to be made well, time will tell if they can withstand the abuse.

Finally decided to get these gloves for my lifting work outs at the gym. The smart thing I did was first go to sports equipment stores to try on physically which type of gloves I like before purchasing on amazon. I liked the feel and the fit along with the gel padding. The hard part was deciding if it wanted to get the size that was more snug, or go one size up to have a loosen fit so there room to move within the gloves. I went with the correct size that was snug, and it worked great for my work outs for a few months. So about 2 months ago, I noticed on my right glove, where my thumb meets my palm, there was a hole. Due to my lifting, the seam has came apart and the nylon has separated from the leather. Now there is a triangle hole and it seems to just travel higher. My previous Harbinger gloves lasted me at least 2.5 years before the leather ripping and falling apart. It's a bit disappointing that even though these gloves feel great and prevents me from any pain while lifting, they aren't up to par to the previous quality of the older gloves. I guess the saying is true, they dont' make them like they used to. I'll wait until these completely fall apart, and I will try the next size up to see if it helps prevent the seams from coming apart.

I had a difficult time deciding which gloves to get. After reading the reviews on many different brands and types, I still wasn't sure what to do. So I decided to take a chance on the 1260's. Now I'm glad I did. I got the xtra large, which I thought might be too big, but followed the sizing chart anyway. When the gloves arrived, they were very tight when I first put them on. After a few workouts, they loosened up and now fit perfectly. I was also concerned about there being too much padding and possibly losing grip. Well, now I'm glad there's the padding. It's softened and I can really focus on gripping the bar when I'm lifting heavier weights. Also they've held up well so far. Good construction, no loose ends. Overall, they've made a positive difference in my workouts. Definitely recommended for beginner to intermediate (that's me).

I purchased my first pair of Harbinger 1260 gloves in 2009 (they had a very high rating which is still carrying over for the bad reviews to have an impact so beware) and used them 2-3 times a week now for 6 years. These were very heavy duty gloves. Out of the box I was very pleased with the quality, they were well made. With the usage I had no problems and they showed very little wear. I recently lost one of the gloves and re-ordered the same model number and size. I was very surprised when the new gloves came and I compared them to my remaining glove. This newer glove is about an inch smaller in length, and in size...about a half a size smaller,much thinner padding, poor stitching and lacked the reinforcements of the earlier glove, it was more of a poorly made bicycle glove. The fingers were much shorter. On the first set of dumbbell curls (about 4 hours after receiving them) the side of the glove split along the leather(?) and fabric seam for about 11/4 inches. I have returned them to amazon. I am now desperately looking for the lost glove. Harbinger needs to change the model number and reduce the price on these to less than $10.

The most recommended reviews regarding these gloves states that they are "unusable" due to "too much padding." Well, that may be accurate if you're a casual lifter, a light lifter, or one of those people who only shows up to the gym in the first few weeks after New Years before going back to your old sedentary habits. For longtime lifters, heavy lifters, or serious lifters, these are the best gloves money can buy -- precisely due to their padding which has for me increased grip strength and comfort the major lifts like bench press and deadlifts. Yes, at first the gloves can be a little tight due to their thickness. However, once broken in the extra padding seems to settle a bit, and make these the most comfortable lifting gloves I've ever owned. Wouldn't leave home without 'em. EDIT: I have heard that Harbinger has changed the unparalleled construction of these gloves and that the newer batch is not quite up to par. I cannot confirm this as my last pair (ordered July 2013) were still very good. But this is worth researching. If true, it's a travesty because these are certainly the best gloves out their for real fitness enthusiasts.

I purchased my first pair of these gloves about five years ago and have purchased two additional pairs over the subsequent years, each time because I could no longer sufficiently wash the odor out of the gloves, not because the gloves were falling apart. I have to say that the pair of gloves I just received (December 2010) seem to be of a lower quality than the previous pairs. Of most concern is the construction around the velcro closure strap. The issue is that the velcro's backing is hard, and the way the velcro was cut causes the backing to extend as far as the fabric on the outside of the glove. I'm not sure whether that makes sense, but the bottom line issue is that once you put these gloves on, you'll feel the sharp edge of the velcro backing cutting into your wrist unless you make sure that the velcro strap is pulled completely over the top of the other side of the glove. That's easy enough to do now when the gloves are new, but I'm afraid that once I wash and dry these a few times they'll be a bit more snug and I won't be able to pull the strap as far over, since every other pair I've had has shrunk a little bit due to washing. I don't know whether I got a defective pair or whether this is just how these gloves are made now, but I would caution anyone receiving a pair of these from Amazon at this time to make sure that if your gloves have the same construction problem as mine that you can either live with it or that you save your packaging so you can return the gloves to Amazon as defective. (Earlier versions of this glove did not have this issue.)

Recently, I've used a Nike dri-fit & generic [...] workout gloves. The Nikes didn't provide any real protection and the BB gloves performed as well as it cost ($8). I haven't had these gloves very long, but I do enjoy them. They easy to remove since they do not have a wrist-straps & offer ALOT of protection. PRO + Great protection + Good quality CON - Quite a bit of padding slightly hinders pull-ups, but nothing you can't deal with. I would recommend this to any of my friends. ************* update *************** 3/10/12 Still love these gloves! They are in great shape still and did wonders for protecting my hand.

I purchased a pair in early October 2008. It's been over 2 years and they are just now starting to wear out. They got some pretty heavy use from me too. I think 2 years of heavy use is pretty good for the price. They have comfortable padding too. However it isn't so thick that it interferes with lifting. Before the pair in 2008 that I have now, I had another pair I got in early to mid 2006. I think it was actually a similar model that was out before they made this one. Like someone else mentioned, it's the thin leather around the thumb that ends up with a hole. That's what always happens. I like them, so I am going to buy another pair. I'll probably be back in early 2013 to get yet another pair. I think they are that good. I've tried a lot of glove, but never found one I like even half as much.

Decent gloves that have so far stood up to me being in the gym 4/5 times a week using barbells and dumbells. My only little gripe is that the are a tight fit which makes them a pain to get off after a workout when the gloves are full of sweat. I did go on the Harbinger website which informs you how to measure your hand for the correct sizing. The plus for me is that you are able to handwash the gloves and they do dry out and remain supple.....although a word of warning when you wash the gloves. Make sure you wear rubber gloves as the Harbinger gloves lose quite a bit of dye....took 2 days for my hands to go back to their normal colour lol.

I purchased these to use on my rowing machine, an average of three to five times a week. So far they're holding up well and have proven to be the best solution over bicycle gloves or taping the "oar" handles. I was getting some serious callouses from rowing and stiff finger joints and these gloves seem to be doing what I purchased them for; hand protection. They're a little longer in the fingers than cycling gloves and have sufficient enough padding without being over padded.

why the sizing in gloves is so wrong? not only in this case, i mean in every brands, all of them fits smaller than the size depicted. however this gloves works fine. wondering when the manufacturers will find a solution with the odor issue (even washing them with regularity)

The best gym gloves one can get. Its made in US and quality is way above par. Worth the price. Avoid nivea, nike etc as they never last longer. Padding is excellent and its stitched properly. Have been using it for 7-8 months now. No problem whatsoever. Do not need frequent washing.
