Excellently Punchy
I was skeptical at first about dropping $155 on an effect that some criticize as inaudible, but I kept seeing good reviews about this compressor, and after seeing this one specifically in Alex Webster's rig, I figured I'd give it a shot. The hype is real - the punch you get is insane! Yes, compression is still a subtle effect; it's not like you're adding a chorus or wah pedal, something that noticeably transforms your sound. However, this pedal takes the natural sound of your bass and preamp, and adds in additional level of punch and evens out the string response. You'll really notice it the first time you give your bass a slap or pop - Wow! This is also great for downtuned metal, where you're hitting a lot of notes fast and hard. It adds a brutal crunchy sound that complements guitar playing while also giving an in-your-face metal bass tone if playing solo.

Awesome tone shaping, and useful manual included
Out of the few bass compressors I've tried I really liked this one the most. The blend knob with the frequency switch can be used to shape the sound, and give you some awesome tone, and fatness if desired. Besides compression, I also use this to alter my tone. This pedal came with a very useful guide, which most dont, explaining in detail what everything does, along with some settings to try out for round and fat, reggae, punchy rock, etc. It can be used to really warm up or fatten your tone depending on the settings you choose. Most compression pedals I've used have been very subtle, but this one can have a huge impact on tone if you want it to. It's also perfect for those who may be new to compression, such as myself, with the awesome manual they provide. It has become one of my most useful, and favorite bass pedals.

Pedals should be made of metal
Used this pedal on a pbass through an old Sunn amp and cab for live performance. The pedal is silent and sounds great. The blend feature is the main reason I chose it and that extra parameter is awesome to have.Took off a star for “value for money” because the battery door is plastic with the accompanying little thumb tab you press to open the compartment. Sold as a benefit because you don’t need a screwdriver to replace the battery. The reality is, I dropped this pedal once from waste height (because I am an idiot) and somehow it landed in such a way (on a carpeted floor) that the battery door popped open and the little thin tab broke off. I now have a gorgeous looking and sounding pedal with black gaffers tape on it. If the bottom of the pedal and the battery door were metal that would probably not be the case...I still think you should choose this pedal for the merits of its sound and the blend feature which I think is awesome. Just don’t drop it.

Super clean compression!
I have 0 complaints about this pedal. It's user friendly, does it's job with no glitch or noise and it's build quality is stage ready. Compression is a subtle thing so I advise you do some YouTube research an learn what it's for , how it works and if it's something that YOU need. If you do need one then this compressor is the best I've owned in the 34 yrs of playing/ beating the bass guitar. I allways research before I buy any equipment and I never found a negative review on this compressor AND it's found its home on many touring and session players pedal boards. So the proof is n da pudding as they say.

Noisy, not studio quality
This pedal is (physically) quite nice. It is well built and solid and it looks great. It even compresses the signal well enough. But it is advertised as studio quality, and it is quite noisy! No, I was not using a crappy power supply. I used a brand new major brand 9v battery. I would like to blame interference for the issue, but I have high quality cables and amplification. You will also want to be extra careful if you are purchasing from a vendor (even if it is fulfilled by Amazon) because they are threatening to keep a restocking fee, even though this item was not as advertised.I highly recommend buying a Darkglass pedal instead. Either their dedicated compression pedal, or one of their overdrive/distortion pedals that also has compression. The quality is so far above this one that it is not in the same league. Although the price is higher, you are getting a far better value for your money with Darkglass. And, no, I am not associated in any way with that (or any other) company that makes or sells music equipment of any kind.

Nice even tone and added punch!
Nice unit for the price. Really keeps the sound right and in the pocket without compression pump. Adds nice tone and growl to my bass. My band complimented my tone after I started using this unit. I put it in my set up without telling them and they heard the difference and smooth control this adds to your tone. It is a subtle addition but has a greater impact than is apparent at first. Get this bad boy! It really improves the punch and levels the volume without sacrificing punch.

A compression pedal that really does help shape your sound !!
I have never really been able to hear a compressed sound but this pedal has changed that and for the better. I’m still learning how to manage the capabilities of this unit but so far have dialed a really balanced output from my instrument. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to make some sublime adjustments to their sound. Well worth the money.
