The New Collegeville Bible Commentary: New Testament

Good resource

Whenever you stumble upon a scripture verse that is difficult or doesn't make any sense it is often helpful to go to a Bible Commentary for clarification. Disappointingly, this one combines verses and sections together, addresses some common theme, and leaves the details out. Someone did a lot of work to put this together, but they were trying to do it quickly, rather than in-depth which makes this purchase less than desired.

I own several Protestant Bible Commentaries but wanted a Roman Catholic one for the Catholic Bible study that I attend. In addition, the Protestant Bible Commentaries do not include all of the Books that are in the Catholic Bible. I found that this Commentary met and will continue to meet my needs. This Bible Commentary is also used in the New Collegeville Bible Studies that are published by Little Rock Scripture Studies published by Liturgical Press.

I bought this because it was recommended at my Scripture class. It's useful when I'm reading the Bible by myself. But, nothing compares to reading the Bible in a group lead by an expert, like our Pastor.

A very concise and readable commentary. There are individual commentaries provided by many different theological scholars, which provide a better understanding of difficult passages and various nuances of New Testament scripture. I feel this is designed more for Catholic than for non-Catholic readers.

Very readable, helpful information about the passages of the New Testament. Looking for to the Old Testament coming out in December!

Excellent source for Priests and Deacons preparing homilies. Also recomend New Jerome Biblical Commentary. I will soon get the New Collegeville Bible Commentary for the Old Testament as well.

This book is outstanding. Many insightful scholars have opened up the deep messages of New Testament scripture. Have recommended to family and friends...wonderful!

I am most impressed with this new commentary on the books of the New Testament. It is pitched at just the right level for me - as I am trained in economics rather than theology! It is scholarly but accessible. A great aid for preaching - I am a permanent deacon. Just the right amount of detail for my purposes. An excellent purchase.

I use this book for my online Bible school assignments as resource. It is really useful; the different authors for each biblical book's commentary somehow fit together and form a cohesive body of interpretation that is both scriptural and humble.

Have not had time to throughly start using this book, but from my cursory look at this time it seems to meet the brief of my expectations. It was the recommended book for the course I will be pursuing.
