Walthers Cornerstone Series Kit HO Scale Northern Light & Power Substation & Accessories

This was fun to put together and overall kept my interest. I played around with different paints and glues to see which best worked for this model and worked some magic with holding things in place. It’s fragile so moving it is a challenge and I’ll be building a stronger based soon. Of course I’m a bit clumsy so kept breaking fragile pieces. The most challenging part was the fencing which took painstaking time and patience to get right. Everything else was simple once I had the right cutting tool, the correct file, and proper glue. I think the top of the Transformer is backwards and that may have been my fault because of the way everything lines up in the final installation. It’s like all the termination points are slightly askew and inverting the top would correct that. To the reader if you’ve gotten this far, don’t be too harsh of a critic on my paint job as I worked with 3 different types of paint while playing around with this project. I’m also color blind so guessed a lot. I still want to “wire” the yard and have dreams of making this a “real substation” with actual DC running through to power devices and/or batteries. A boy can dream.

I went for an abandoned look for my model and i love it. Make sure you have time for your project and some good glue!

A lot of very small parts to glue together, a lot of patients is needed to assemble this model. I worked in Electrical Substations for many years and this is very accurate. You will need a fast setting glue and a steady hand to assemble this model, I worked on this for three weeks in the evenings for about an hour. The fence was probably the hardest to put together, but I found it a good challenge. If you want a really good representation of a Electrical Substation, this is the model for you!

A generous coat of silver paint with silver thread to connect this unit to the poles will give my layout just the right addition of an artificial power plant.

Qualität ist gut kann nichts dran kritisieren außer der Zaun ist bissel Fummel Kram lasst euch Zeit klebt das Metall an das Plastik mit Uhu alles Kleber dauert alles bissel aber hält
