9 Things a Leader Must Do: How to Go to the Next Level--And Take Others With You

It took me forever to read this book because I would read each chapter multiple times before moving to the next. Concepts are very well explained and with good examples.My only complaint about this book is the use of he/she on some of the theories. He, wen it was a good thing. She, when it was a negative. This book could benefit from addressing this.

This book is a great quick read if you're not turned off by frequent references to God, Jesus, and quotes from the bible in a book about management and leadership. Dr. Cloud's "9 Things" boil down to:1) doing what you love, even if it requires taking risks or "a leap of faith"2) removing everything negative from your life3) evaluating ALL your current decisions with the long-term future in mind4) always asking "What can I do to make this situation better?"5) achieving large goals one small step at a time6) gaining clarity about everything you hate, and then eliminating it with extreme prejudice or continually striving to be the exact opposite of it7) not "keeping score" - ALWAYS give your best8) being comfortable with who you are - you can't learn when you think or act like you know everything9) not making fear-based decisions - make "the right" decision, own it, and deal with the consequences no matter how uncomfortable it might beMost of this seems like common sense but, in practice, it's often easier said than done. Reading this book helps remind one of some of the things we might forget while "in the weeds" in addition to giving a sometimes necessary boost of courage to take appropriate action.

I absolutely love the way Henry Cloud writes! Even more importantly, I love the way he thinks, beliefs, and helps people. These are not 9 things that you have never thought of, but you will find yourself saying, "Oh, yes, I need to remember that."Christians will appreciate the way Cloud pulls back the curtain and reveals more of his own spiritual beliefs. Otters may never have realized the source of Cloud's practical wisdom and insights. This book shares many passages from the Bible and shows how they apply to everyday life. As a disciple of Jesus, I found this book to be very encouraging.

God gets the 5* rating for being Dr. Cloud`s inspiration.Dr. Cloud lays down the formula for successful people to go farther andthose seeking success to arrive at that same destination.

The material in this book is good, but, in my opinion, not book-worthy. The book chapters don’t do much in developing points, and sometimes the development that is there appears seems disjointed. There are some great Henry Cloud books. This isn’t one of them.

This book was easy to read and more importantly resonated with me at a time when I was at a career cross roads. Insightful and well written. A couple of edits needed but not enough to distract from the content.

Helpful book outlining key principles that are common among successful leaders. Easy to read, challenging to practice, but those who implement these principles consistently will find greater success in every area of life.

I read this is 2 nights. I loved the order it was writte, very easy to keep notes from it. All the advice checked out to be biblically sound. As a person who ran my own business and allowed myself to fail - I see the pinpoints of my behaviors that allowed me to fail in this book. Wish I would have read it 5 years ago.

It was a helpful little book with some great insights. I enjoyed it. Practical with some good examples. That’s all I got!

Great book

This book makes you realize that anyone can be a leader. The 9 advices are very effective. This book really helped me for my work.
