Math Art and Drawing Games for Kids: 40+ Fun Art Projects to Build Amazing Math Skills Review: This is a stellar book - Hoping from many more books from this author - I am a mom of a 9 and 11 years old. I spend a lot of time looking for good crafty projects to do. My criteria, in random order: 1. easy instructions to follow (so kids can be fairy independent doing it, or at least I can understand super fast to brief them), 2. high quality learning, 3. Fun for kids and 4. High potential for kids to retain the learning. This is truly the first time all 4 conditions are met. First the book is very well made, so well presented and easy to go through. It actually does touch upon artists, art concepts and themes. It is brilliant! I very much hope this author will do more of it. I never write reviews unless I feel the need to warn about a product that I feel borderline deceitful. This is a rare time that I write because I genuinely hope this author will get support and go far! Review: Perfect for the Purpose! - After homeschooling for many years I've become very picky about any resources I use. If I'm going to spend valuable time and money on something it has to not only provide engaging and unique ideas, but it also has to be straightforward, simple, and easy to carry out with very little preparation from me. This book does just that. I particularly love the short descriptions before the art activities that connect the reader and the activity to different artists we may not have gotten to know before. I love it when my children are inspired by a resource to go and learn even more! Perfect for adding some creativity and joy into our math practice. I have to say I'm a little confused by the reviewer that says she was disappointed that her teen could not use this book in the car?? This is a creative arts book (involving activities including cooking) written for children 8-12. And for that purpose and age group this book absolutely fits the bill.

Beautiful book. Great projects. Worth the price.
I watched an online lecture a few months ago by Karyn Tripp where she talked about STEAM projects and demonstrated a couple of these math art ideas. I loved that she went from hating math to loving teaching it to her kids because she found creative ways to make the patterns and ideas fun, and I was excited to get her book when it came out. This book is fabulous! I was initially impressed with the quality of the layout and got excited to learn about the cultural math section, and then my 11-year-old squirreled the book away before I could get a good look at it. I borrowed it back and read through it, and I am excited to do these projects with my kiddos! Each project is explained well with photographs and some sections give further ideas to inspire more fun. Several projects are simple enough that a tween that can follow directions could do it on their own or a teenager could help younger kids with it if a parent is busy. This isn't a book you can just hand to a child, but it does say inside that it's aimed at ages 8-12, and some of the drawing exercises could be done without much parental help while some of the projects are messier and more creative. It looks like a nice variety, and I like the chapter setup. There is a materials list, but the majority of it is craft stuff you probably have in your house--paper, markers, colored pencils, straws, yarn. I think the only things I'll need to purchase are glycerin, pipe cleaners, suction cups, and embarrassingly, a compass and protractor. I'm excited to play some of the games and test out the 3-D shapes. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because we haven't yet done the projects, but we plan to very soon.

Fun blend of math and art for all ages
My kids were sooo excited when we opened this package! My teens were very interested in "helping" and turned to the food activities first (of course). We have already done three activities and can't wait to do more. The geometrical designs are my personal favorite. They are very satisfying to create. I'm loving this book for my homeschool! The photos are great and the explanations seem to be thorough and easy to follow.

Wonderful projects mixing creativity, art, math, and learning. Great book!
This looks like a great book. I haven’t given it to my daughter yet, so we haven’t done any of the projects yet. However there are a lot of wonderful ideas and I cannot wait to give it to her and dive in. These are new projects that I haven’t seen online elsewhere, and they require minimal tools. Also, it has a lot of good information about different artists as it has projects mimicking different work by artists like MC Escher. I love the mix of creativity, math, and artist information. My daughter will be 6 soon, but is a little advanced and highly interested in math, this seems to be a great book for elementary to middle school kids. I highly recommend this!

Great book with fun activities
Such a great resource for phenomenal art activities. I love the list of artists/designers included too (Klee, Lloyd Wright and many others). I decided to do two artworks for each artist, one given in the book and another famous piece I chose myself. Great for homeschool or summer activities.

So fun!
I have 2 kiddos that are homeschooling this year. This book is full of so many fun ideas. True, you do need some supplies- other than just pencil and paper but it's worth it! And, you probably have most of it on hand already! This book allows me to teach both my kids -5 years apart- multiple lessons!

My teenage son does not like the book, but maybe yours will.
When I read the description for this book, I thought it would be a great way for my teenage son to past the time on a long car trip. Having received it, it is not to be used in the car. It is more like a "project" book where you need to cut out shapes, draw complex lines on paper with rulers and other stencils. My son is an "a" student in math, and he found ths book to be a bit more involved and require more effort than he wished to spend on these projects. It sits on a shelf, not sure if it will be used. I am giving it a 3-star rating because the enjoyment that comes from this book will highly depend upon the person who receives it. I truly thought this was filled with activities that would make a long car ride more fun, but I was wrong. And even at home, where my son has access to the paper, scissors, and stencils that are needed to perform these projects, he prefers to do other things ... and he loves math and art.. it is just not his thing.

- This book is excellent! It has pages - Projects - Templates at the back on good quality card so you can either cut them out or photocopy them. - Easy to follow instructions. - Good quality pictures. - Artists references. My 9 years old boy loves art and hates maths, he gets really frustrated when his art isn't perfect, this art and maths book ticks all the boxes! An absolute winner! Every day of the summer holidays he's been asking to do a new project from the book!

Got this for my 7-year-old granddaughter, who loves to draw and also enjoys (and does well at) math. It was a gift, so I haven't seen her use it first hand, but the pages I saw online looked like a wonderful mix of her two interests.
