What to Eat During Cancer Treatment Review: Helpful and delicious recipes to help while undergoing cancer treatment. - Bought this because my daughter will be undergoing cancer treatment. I am amazed by and excited about the recipes. They look delicious and are all about the way we should be eating. Was disappointed to read that 43 people found the review about outdated inappropriate ingredients helpful. Please read the intro to this book. It explains the reasons behind the recipes. Review: Great Book for Cancer Patients and Caregivers - First, the review titled "Outdated inappropriate ingredients" is a bit deceptive. If you are going through chemo, you are likely dealing with a variety of issues including needing excess calories to make up for days when you are too nauseated to eat. The book points out in the educational section at the front, that some of the recipes are designed to provide more calories than what you might otherwise want in a normal meal for exactly this reason. The book also addresses and provides recipes for all of the normal chemo side effects. If you are new to chemo or a caregiver for someone with chemo, there are a lot of weird side effects to deal with. This book does a wonderful job talking the reader through everything they need to know from these side effects to the additional steps that need to be taken for proper food safety when cooking for someone whose immune system is suppressed by chemo. In short - This book is laid out in a way that is ideal for someone going through chemo. The recipes are targeted for optimal nutrition and management of side effects. There is also a valuable amount of needed food related information to help you throughout your chemo regiment. IMHO, It's definitely worth the purchase.

What a great book.. very detailed.
I love the categories and the immense attention to detail for what the recipes are for. Even for people without cancer..it would be worthwhile for various issues with foods and other medical diagnosis. Lots of photos too.

Helpful
This cookbook offers a great selection of recipes designed specifically for people going through cancer treatment. The meals focus on easy-to-digest, nutritious ingredients that help manage side effects like nausea and mouth sores. I found several recipes that were simple to make and actually tasty, which can be a big challenge during treatment. The nutritional information and tips throughout the book were very useful, especially for understanding how certain foods can support healing and energy levels. The photography is bright and inviting, making the recipes even more appealing. My only minor complaint is that a few recipes require hard-to-find ingredients or take more prep time than expected, which isn’t always ideal when energy is low. Also, some sections could use more variety in flavors. Overall, it’s a valuable resource for patients and caregivers looking for practical meal ideas during treatment.

Helps to know what to eat for families with loved ones or themselves having cancer. So very interesting things to eat during those times.

Educate, carbs are good in moderation!
I am considering buying this book for a family member who is going through treatments. I was reading the reviews and most of them are helpful and constructive. The one about "shame, shame, shame" because of the use of carbs needs to be removed. Some chemo patients lose a lot of weight during treatment and require more carbs in their diets to help them gain or at the very best maintain. Carbs are not bad, if had in moderation. So please don't let that review steer you away from this particular cookbook.
