Rope Ratchet 1/4 Adjustable Pulley System, Braided Polypropylene Rope, 8 ft

I bought this to use while installing an awning on my vintage travel trailer. It worked out fantastic. Not only does it help pull the awning into place, but it has the ratchet pully so if you're installing an awning by yourself and have to let go of the rope "it" still holds! While this is plenty big and strong enough to do the job, I would consider going up one size, the sides of the hook are flattened and unless turned sideways can pull out of the "C" rail, I, of course, used a longer rope since my travel trailer is 22' long. I would highly recommend this product! There are many ways this tool could be used.

High marks for this mini-winch... 1) The guts are metal, not plastic. 2) Four screws hold the mechanism together, so you can take it apart far enough to wash out any dirt and grime that build up around the wheel (a rivet at the pointy end keeps the spring loaded release from flying off into Netherland. 3) The rope is high quality with a nice smooth feel. The ends are terminated in such a way to prevent fraying. 4) The ratchet makes a really cool noise when you tighten your load down. To set it up, thread the rope into the ratchet from the bottom and then rotate the knurled wheel to make the rope pop out the other side (very reliable. It's not a thread through a needle sort of thing). Hook the ratchet to what you are tying down and then either tie the other end down with the far end of the rope directly or tie the additional hook to the rope end first. To cinch it tight just pull on the end of the rope you threaded through the ratchet. Note that there is no "winch handle" to cinch it tight. You are using the strength of your hand(s) pulling on the rope. A solution that allows for actually ratcheting rather than hand pulling on small jobs might be this handy little item: Ben-mor Cables Inc C78005V Mini Winch Clothesline Cable Tightener . I almost bought one of these for my application (cinching down a tarp cover on a deck), but it seems it would be a bit tedious tightening it down each time the tarp cover is put in use.

Great product, i use this to assist in lifting my wheelchair into and out again from my car. Only thing I modified was changing the hook on one side to soot my needs...

I tried to find these in my area none to be found. searching I found the exact matching to a set I bought some 20 years ago that are working just find but I needed extra for a project. I know these will work perfectly and will last many years to come.

Works great. No problem. Could have included instructions on how to string the line through the pully since it needs to be done before you can use it. Just look at it and read the in and out ports. Also, there is a little spring lever at the top that releases the grip to reset it for the next use.

This original model is the best of the bunch. I’ve got another brands and this one is my favorite four function overall.

I was looking at several options and chose these due to the listing saying "Country of origin: USA" but alas, 'tis not so. I will freely admit my low rating is based solely on that lie. Leaving in a day on a trip and need something to strap down kayaks so I am going to use them and hope for the best based on other generally positive reviews and I might revisit down the line. Update: Upgraded to 3 stars because my boats didn't fly off the roof after 13 hours on the road. Also, somewhat promising to note that these are the same exact units included with the Thule "Stacker" kayak rack (only branded Thule instead of Rope Ratchet). They have the same construction, patent #s, other markings and "Made in China" text on them. Only difference is the Thule ones come with a spring-clipped loop on the one end and these come with a hook. . We'll see how they hold up, might end up with more stars down the line.

We bought two of these for securing our deck umbrella. They're great, good looking, easy to use and do the job. Thinking of ordering a few more to tie down things to our vehicle when we travel.
