It took me a while to find this simple brush. Many of them are more modern with plastic handles. I like the feel of this traditional styled brush. Works great on my long haired cat.

This little brush is really useful to help keep our long haired kitties fur looking healthy. Gentle brushing daily keeps the tangles & seed pods away. Start out with this grooming gradually, from kitten age up so they are used to the routine. The brustles are very pointy so be gentle. The small design of this brush with a nice wooden handle, is far superior to the larger, clumsy plastic ones. Well priced & will last if you keep it dry. Works great for cleaning dog hair off of our couch. Never used for cat hair

This brush is amazing for so many uses. It's so functional. It's great for feet, small dogs, cats, shedding, around the face of large dogs. It works well. I would highly recommend all small dog and cat owners have this brush on hand. It's very lightweight as well.

I have a long hair cat that was given to me. Sweet as can be but hated being brushed. Vaguely tolerated it until he was done. And unfortunately that led him to be moderately matted in the typical places. I’ve used the dematting rakes that did break up his mats but he didn’t like the sensation, I started shaving the parts that were super bad like his pant section and his belly but it caused him so much stress. I decided to buy this as a last ditch effort for idk what to be honest. By itself I don’t think it would’ve worked out all the mats. But I did a once over with the dematting rake and started using this brush. It’s big enough for my bigger boy that I don’t feel like I’m brushing him with a toothbrush but small enough I can very comfortably get into all the ‘crevices’. I was able to get out almost every single mat he had with relative ease with considerably less stress on my boy. 100% if the one I had broke I’d buy another because as someone who felt horrible that I had to basically torture my cat to try and get his coat right, now after the once over with the rake, and this all the mats are gone and now the upkeep of his coat with this brush is a breeze.

works well on long haired cats

This is a great brush to use on my cats. They've both short-haired cats, but my boy cat is picky about the brushes and if he doesn't like it, he'll just try to chew on the brush. He loves this one, and actually will lie down and let me brush him, which he's never done before! Yay! The girl loves it too, but she loves pretty much all attention so that's not much of an indicator. On a useable level, I give this 5 stars out of 5. This handle isn't slippery, so it grips well, it's not too large, the bristles aren't too rough, and it's easy to clean. It's also small enough to store pretty much anywhere. It's great at brushing out loose hair so I don't end up with as much randomly scattered on my carpet, and regularly brushing your cat's coat will keep it healthier and also reduce the amount of hairballs - since you're brushing it rather than them having to groom it all! My biggest problem with this is when I'm using it on my cats, they don't want to let me stop!
