My daughter figure skates so I've bought a few books about figure skating she said she loved this and I've seen her reading this books at least 3 times since I got it

Perfect for a young learning to skate girl.

I found this book to be thoughtfully written and illustrated. It tells the story of a girl who tries hard, practices diligently and dreams big to be an champion figure skater. But when her class puts on the show of Snow White on ice, she is cast as a tree. The illustrations do a beautiful job of capturing her bitter disappointment. In the end she makes the best of the situation and has a victory in overcoming her sadness and making her part as a tree be fun and unexpected. I appreciate that the lesson of the tale is to make the best of an imperfect situation. I find that the books, like this one, that realistically portray my daughters' real life difficulties realistically are their first reading choices at bedtime.

twirls and lutzes? No such thing as twirls and lutzes aren't for kids who have never skated. There are so many basics to be learned that all children will be doing is hopping and gliding and ducking for a while!
