We bought this set as a Christmas present for my 2 1/2 year old son, who loves anything with wheels. He instantly loved this set, and who could blame him? Let me list the pros and cons, from the parent's point of view. PROS: Great quality pieces. These can MOSTLY withstand the abuses of a toddler, but will definitely hold up if your child is older and more careful with their toys. Vibrant colors Multitude of track formations to construct. LOTS of extra pieces such as buildings, people, signs, landscaping: for more imaginative play The price cannot be beat for what you're getting. CONS: There are two pieces of this set that WILL break if you're not careful. The railroad crossing has 2 red posts that drop down. These could easily be broken if stepped on or pulled too hard. The bridge is VERY fragile. We had to re-glue one of the sides after it snapped off . Set up of the tracks can be too difficult for a smaller child. Lots of pieces to store If you don't have at least 6 feet of play space for this set, either on the floor or tabletop, you may want to find a smaller set. This looks great, but takes up a LOT of room. Our goal is to find a child height table that we can permanently have this set up on. This is a great set for the price you pay. Just take the size and number of pieces into consideration before buying. Have fun!!!

This is a very well made set that will have your child playing for hours. Lots of fun and creative ideas can be sprk3d from this well made set.

Great train set for the price! No complaints. We've had the high dollar train sets and besides the fancy paint jobs (which were toxic) for the official characters of the expensive brands, this train set is great for kids to play with and use their own imagination. If it's for the fun of trains rather than a love of a character and a TV show, THIS is a great wooden train set for toddlers and young kids. If a kid LOVES that character, I'd stick with the character and less train for the buck. As for this collection of pieces - Toddlers might not use all of the pieces yet but this set has pieces for them to grow into and learn with the tools at hand for their expanding abilities to figure things out. I picked this one for a 2 year old and a 5 year old to share. It's great for both. * The box it comes in is packed VERY well, I was concerned when it arrived, with the box thinking it was going to be way less than I hoped for because the box was pretty small. It is just packed REALLY Well! ** get one of those plastic storage containers next size up from the shoe size one... you'll never get the pieces back into the box the set comes in and unless you have a place to leave it out, a container to keep it in is great. *** There was another train set I looked at on here that came with a plastic storage container but this set looked like a better set while the other one was over paying for the container and getting less train.

We bought this to our 2 years old as he is crazy about cars/tractors/trains and this is his first "advanced" train set. While he is only two he enjoys the set a lot. I am pretty sure he broke his own attention span record multiple times with it. What is so unique about this set? 1. The pieces are solid, yet fine and colorful. And it's wooden, not made of cheap plastic. 2. Variety of elements including the train engine and cars, tracks, houses, trees, people, rumps and even traffic signs. etc 3. It fits Thomas!!! So our electric Thomas can ride on a MUCH more exciting adventures than just the tracks with which it arrived! 4. While as one of the reviewers wrote it does miss straight tracks, Orbrium offers (sell separately) additional pieces so you can really make whatever you want from it. Update: Two things we liked less about it: 1. Our Thomas (Fisher Price's Maron Station Starter Kit) couldn't climb the up ramp. so it can't complete a full lap if the ramps are part of it. It may just be our model but still, kind of disappointing. Having said that, we didn't buy it for its Thomas compatibility... 2. The bridge is too narrow for our Thomas. Same here - couldn't blame it on this product but there is some incompatibility with some of the models I guess.

I got this for my twins. They are only 18 months but my boy is quite keen on trains. This set is made from solid wood. The pieces are all well made and join together beautifully. Since this is our first set I have not tested it's compatibility with other major products. But from its size I don't think that will be am issue. The number of tracks itself isn't so many. There are many pieces of shrubs, trees, buildings and people. Though I find it weird that they people are of the same height as the trees and the buildings. But I just got this set as a starter set. So I don't mind that. There is a green and yellow bridge which my son took an exceptional liking to. The reason I gave this four stars is because the bridge broke soon after we received it. Not that there was any rough play involved. Anyway boys will be boys so perhaps that can't be helped. I have managed to glue it back together. The straight tracks are very, very few. So I must warn you that if you are looking to build an alternative track from the one in the picture, not very many are possible. What I did was I expanded on this pack. I was quite pleased with the quality of this track and I did not want to spend an exorbitant amount of money on branded tracks. I got the 58 pieces expansion pack and thus I have the straights I need. I also got the 12 trains set sold separately. That is a brilliant buy to go with this set. In future I plan to buy the required additions separately...For example the coal mine or the signal station. For now I am pleased with my purchase. And I speak for my son too! (My girl, his twin isn't very keen on trains unfortunately)

For the price point, this is a good, well-made train set. My kids love playing with it, and it keeps them busy for a long time. You can also add tracks from other train sets with no issues. I would definitely recommend purchasing this for any kids who are train lovers.

I bought it for my grand kids. Shipping was on time. Bought the 100 piece, and the 56 piece expansion kit. I packed each out and counted every piece, and also inspected every piece for quality. Checked for smoothness , cracks and sturdiness. Everything checked out good. I was worried about the tracks connections because they seemed to be a bit loose, compared to an old set i bought 30 some years ago. So i assembled a section of the tracks and put the cars on it - to see how they handle it. I was a bit surprised how well it turned out. The cars traveling thru the connections without any problem. The magnetic car connection is ok, i had to switch one of the car position and it was all good. (only concerns about the magnets is that - if the glue fails - it can be a choke hazards) Chances are almost zero to this to happen, but u can never be cautious enough, when it comes to your loved one's safety. So check out every piece!! Mine was excellent , so i keep it!
