Perfect for my DIY potting mix!
10/10 recommend. if you don’t have the money to splurge on bark - this is absolutely great quality & AFFORDABLE bark. because - & now i don’t know about you but - i’d much rather spend less & get excellent quality bark. it’s a no-brainer really.i add this bark (or the other bettergro orchid bark that has the charcoal + chunky perlite pieces) to my potting mix that i make myself. i use essentially the same mix (a potting mix + bark + perlite + charcoal + worm castings) for my succulents (i add lava rock &/or sand for them, but i’ve also used the exact same mix with excellent results) & tropical plants - but with my succulents i like to cut the bark into smaller (maybe nickel sized) pieces; my tropical plants get the larger pieces, depending on the size of the pot, of course.this is why i really like this bark. there’s nice big pieces if you need them but you can also make them into whatever size you want/need. does it take more time? sure. but if you’re like me.. then your plant babies are worth it. i’d rather buy bark that’s too big rather than too small. there’s a lot more you can do with bigger pieces.the biggest thing though - this bark is always really great quality. i’ve never gotten a bag that i’ve been disappointed with. there are other brands (i won’t mention names, but the typical cheap brand) and their bark is always… wet… & almost kind of soggy… mushy…falls apart easily - it just seems to be breaking down immediately. i know bark isn’t going to last forever. but if i pot up an orchid, i expect the bark to hold out for AT the VERY LEAST a year, but closer to two really. the other brand didnt even last a year. i’ve had a couple of my phalaenopsis orchids in this bettergro bark + charcoal + perlite + long fibered sphagnum moss for a year; succulents & tropical plants are in their pots for sometimes 2 years; i never have to repot because the bark is quickly deteriorating & not doing its job - with bettergro bark, i always repot because the plant’s outgrown the pot.i recently moved from VA to FL & because it’s so humid here i’m wanting to repot my plants; get the LFSM out of my orchid mix - & i came to amazon to find mybettergro bark! seriously - if you’re on the fence about bark for your orchids or tropical plants, i’m telling you, you won’t be disappointed with this bark. the quality.. i was honestlysurprised. i’ve used expensive brands & honestly, i prefer bettergro bark.. & price has very little to do with it.try it out. you won’t be disappointed.just an extra thought - i wish i could get the dendrobium mix by bettergro! i never see it in stores & can’t find it on amazon.

Yeah, good product.
Great so far. I tried two different type of bark (competitors which I won’t mention here) and all they made was dusty powder bark that got all over everywhere. These chunks are nice although I did find some construction plastic and sticks in one bag. Everything came a little bit damp, so I just dried them out on some potting trays. I was afraid they were gonna mold by the time I actually use them. Surprisingly, I ended up using them right away so all the moisture actually worked out. This bark is currently working well for my orchid which is in a side and bottom ventilated plastic clear pot 6 1/2 inches across the top and is about 2‘4“ tall. My orchid has good long roots and this material lets you pot your orchid so you can see the roots well (so you know when to water). I had issues with root rot before mostly because I couldn’t tell when my orchids needed water and I over watered them.

I love that it’s specifically designed for orchids, ensuring they get the right nutrients and moisture balance. The pieces are of good size and quality, making repotting a breeze. Since using this product, my orchids have thrived with stronger, healthier roots. Highly recommended for anyone looking to boost their orchid care routine!

beware
The bark piece is a bigger than my preference. I bag has lots of ants & little bugs inside the bag. I have to soak the bark for 2 days before i can use. It's inconvenient but otherwise it's good product.

So far so good
I bought this due to almost killing my orchid and the online suggestions instructed me to get bark and not use dirt. I have my orchid repotted with the bark and after 15 days it seems to be alive and doing great. I believe it has fertilizer included in the product so that's great as well. I will update the review if the plant goes south. The product shipped on time and appears to be good quality. I also bought two more of these on accident and it was super easy to return with no hassles. So far I would rate a solid five. My orchid appears to be doing great and has blooms even. Product is as described, ships as it says and easy returns if you make mistakes like me and buy too many by accident.

Nice size, smell, price and amount.
First time using it for my orchids, It smells nice (not like the sphagnum moss) the size of the wood is perfect in my opinion, although some pieces are large and I only found one rock un the 2 boxes. I really recommend it because you get 2 bags for a better price compared with home depot.

Great for Aroid mixes! (Monstera, Pothos, Philodendron)
These bags of orchid bark are beautiful when mixed into my potting soil and perlite. It was very worth it considering the low price point. I had to split up my Monstera plant, and this bark made the soil mix really pop and drain will. I did get a few tiny splinters while mixing so I would recommend wearing gloves.
