Great Learning Experience
Better than expected! Purchased as a gift for a 4-year old boy. He (and his parents) loved it. Makes a great gift. They enjoyed setting up, watching the progress and then releasing the butterfly. It teaches observation, patience and stages of the butterfly. I wish I had a photo to share, its was a fun experience and he was engaged at every step.

Awesome Spring time gift (Great distraction while Stay-At-Home in place)
I've been buying these since my little grand kids went to Daycare. I've even bought them for Daycare's down the street I'm not associated with, plus for relatives kids. I just think it's the best thing going for some spring time education. I was worried getting them during the COVID-19 stuff, and with all that's going on lately, but of the 5 sets I bought all the caterpillars came small and lively. One year I did buy from a company OTHER THAN Insect Lore and I regretted it. The caterpillars came in all different sizes, so the flow to the chrysalis, then to coming out as butterflies was staggered and REALLY a pain to keep up with. Plus, the best cup had 4 survive and one cup none survived. When I tried to explain to the company, they offered NO compensation. After years of doing this for all the kids related or not, I suggest not trying to save a little and stick with Insect Lore. The memories are so much better. It's awesome when they do come out. I let the kids name theirs (like they really can tell, hehe). Then we keep them a day or two, and when it's warm enough, we go outside and I help them press up on the chest to get one on their finger, take it slowly out of the cage, and watch it take off. So fun and cute. I've got a video of one granddaughter who named hers Daisy. The day she let hers go, and it flew off her finger and away, she stood up and started waving while saying "Goodbye Daisy, Goodbye". She sounded both sad and happy. Glad I got it on film because it's so cute and emotional. Any way - Get one :) Get 10 :)

100% Disappointing
I only got 7 of the 10 I was supposed to get, all of them already in the chrysalis phase, 1 looks partially eaten I wonder if the other 3 were also eaten, and all of them of course fell from the lid before they arrived. My kids were so excited to watch them grow and change now we just have to sit and wait to see if any of them made it. Worst part, I ordered on 6/12 selected the delivery date of 6/27 then they shipped on 6/13 (already had a feeling this would end badly) then got delayed in shipping 3 times but the other option was 6/15 which was to early for my stepdaughter to be here to watch them. So now I have to question why they were shipped so early for a delivery date of the 27th if they claimed to be able to have them here a few days as my other option (which with the multiple delays in shipping they would've been late for the 15th delivery date). Now they are 4 days early and already almost completely through the process of becoming a butterfly (if any are alive still) which was the point of this for my children since we have worked on making a butterfly garden area to release them in. The other stuff in the kit is nice but very disappointed in the caterpillars so for me this is a 0 star experience but have to give a 1.

I bought these for my grandkids they lived watching the caterpillars come to life then turn into a butterfly. They were excited to set them free.

So fun with preschoolers !
This was an Easter gift for my preschool kids and it was so fun. All 5 caterpillars turned into butterflies and my kids (2 and 4) loved watching all the steps and ultimately letting the pretty butterflies go. The kit has everything you need which is convenient. My only issue was that the kit arrived much earlier than planned so I had to keep the caterpillars hidden for a few days and they started to turn into cocoons the day I gave it to them. We plan to buy another caterpillar kit again next spring.

Fun
1 caterpillar came dead. The rest survived and we got to watch the life cycle. My daughter loved the butterflies and watching them grow. I recommend! I would do this again.

Shorted 5 catapillars
Our kit came with a total of 5 catapillars. Jar 1 has 3 and jar 2 has 2. The kit was suppose to have 10 total. Kids like it so far and are having fun. It was easy to set up.. were finally seeing the catapillara grow quite large and the bottom later of stuff is disapearing.

So cool!
I bought this to send to my son’s daycare so they could learn about the life cycle of caterpillars and butterflies. My only complaint is the arrival of the caterpillars. When I got home, the box was all smashed up, I took it inside and opened it only to find one of the plastic containers completely smashed and missing 4 of the caterpillars. I ended up having to clean everything out to find the caterpillars in the box, scattered. I found a container and was able to make the lid fit on it so we saved all of the caterpillars. Other than that, it was a great purchase. The kids absolutely loved watching this. They had a good amount of caterpillars turn into butterflies. It didn’t come with instructions on what to do but it was pretty easy to figure out. I did like the appearance, everything looked really nice.

I'm in Canada and they did not include the larvae. I paid over $100, they should not have shipped it to Canada if we weren't able to use it in Canada. Priced way too high for the quality.

I am sad for the butterflies. Six were dead. Four were alive. But imagine traveling in a small dark container with six dead. I am nursing the live ones. I'll be surprised if they make it. Two have taken some sugar water. And one has fluttered a bit. I thought it took 3 weeks. It's okay though, at least it's an experience taking care of a few. Maybe Amazon will credit me half ($50) at least.

All the butterflies had died on arrival. The children and teachers were very disappointed. I would like a refund
