We switched all four of our chihuahuas over to the Halo Holistic Plant-Based Recipe with Superfoods recently, and it’s been a smooth transition across the board. Two of them actually started on this formula when they were puppies, so it made sense to move the older two over as well once we saw how well it was working. One of our biggest concerns was whether our pickier eaters would accept it, but all four took to it immediately — no mixing with other foods, no hesitation at mealtime. The kibble is the perfect size for little mouths, and it has a fresh, natural smell that’s a lot more pleasant than other plant-based brands we’ve tried. Since switching, we’ve noticed steady energy levels, shiny coats, and no upset stomachs or digestive issues, which is always a win with small breeds. It’s still a little early to comment on the long-term benefits, but we’re very happy with how they’re doing so far. I also really appreciate the quality of the ingredients — real, whole foods and added superfoods without a lot of fillers or junk. Even the packaging is thoughtfully designed with a sturdy, resealable closure to keep everything fresh. So far, it’s been a great experience, and we feel good knowing we’re giving them a plant-based option that doesn’t compromise on nutrition.

After more than 4 years of ingesting this food, my small breed rescue pooch has made, AND maintained, a REMARKABLE recovery from being a 10 lb underweight malnourished, and otherwise health neglected being! I do feed him a rotation of other vegan foods as well. Variety's of the utmost importance, for many reasons, including staving off developing allergies to any single food. Not only has this food proven to me to be safe and effective, providing all & more of the canine dietary essentials, it's one of the very few dry foods that incorporates Selenium Yeast INSTEAD OF Sodium Selenite!!! Check those two out and compare, for your loved one's safety/health!! I tend to soak kibble (in water that tests clear of detrimental contents) more than not, and mix in other beneficial ingredients -- NOT simply rely on dry kibble bits day in and day out! That'd be torture on multiple levels, even for canines, who tend not to stop and chew most food, thus not generally taste it. (But aroma, that's another thing!) My fur baby's even spunkier, and with a sheeny shiney coat, moist cool nose, sparkly eyes...even more so now than when he was HALF his present age! I'd say this base nutrition has done a LOT to help GET him there AND KEEP him there!

Why did you pick this product vs others?: After tons of research, I finally figured out my girl has a meat allergy. She was in and out of the vet's office 5 times in 3 months. Even the vet couldn't figure it out. I started her on Wild Earth plant based diet. She did great on it until they changed the formula. The new formula smelled very strong of spinach and my dog hated it. I was on the search again. After 4 other foods, I finally found this brand. She loves it! After about 5 bags, I accidentally got too low on her supply and no one had it available when I needed it. I ended up having to buy another brand to get me by for a couple days. I will never allow that to happen again. She immediately started having the bowel issues again. In a way, I'm glad this happened because I now know it is truly the food for her. I will not change her or run low ever again! Side note: My girl is a Boston Terrier. They are prone to gas issues. This food even fixed the gas problem.

Holy moly! I finally found a dry dog food my Great Pyrenees loves! I used to have him on an open feeder but he was never excited about dry food. I had to feed him canned food almost exclusively. He just gobbled up 3 bowls of this in a row!
