Nice to have when a cichlid decides to be the jerk
I like that the holes allow sufficient movement of water in and out. The net breeder boxes do not and have and will suffocate the fish if an airstone is not used inside them. This piece looks great but has some hangups that I can't look the other way on. 1 the lid does tend to float a little. Fix is putting something with a little weight on top. Then the suction cups deform after a short time and won't hold as they are intended to. Then combine these two issues and you get a failed suction cup on one side and the weight holding the lid down now causes the box to drop down on one side, then the weight slides off, then the lid floats open and the fish yells ah ha sucker look who has freedom again. Fix? Lose the suction cups and replace with better ones or delete the suction cups and opt for magnets.

Can not assemble as-is
When I received the product, I immediately removed all of the protective film. I began assembling, only to notice that one of the side pieces is cut improperly. The holes are offset from where they should be, meaning that the side panel sticks out too far on the front. This means it is impossible to assemble properly. I tried flipping it (thinking maybe it only goes one direction), but that just made it stick too far out on the back side instead. I requested a replacement through Amazon and was shipped a second unit. The second unit had the exact same flaw. Luckily, I hadn't shipped the first unit back yet, so I was able to take the 'correct' side piece from the second unit and use it to assemble the original. Now I will have to return the second unit with both of the incorrectly cut sides. Now, the second problem... Once fully assembled, I realized that there is no way keep the lid closed. A fairly strong water current has no issue opening the lid. An older version of Alfie-pet acclimation box that I have was a completely different design, that I greatly prefer. It was very easy to disassemble for cleaning, as it was held together with rubber bands that are easily removed. This sounds less secure, but I assure you, it was plenty secure and much easier. That version also had a locking lid which would not come open with water currents.Overall, I will end up keeping the one I assembled, as I really need one now, but I certainly would not buy another and would not recommend it. It is very sturdy, but that's about the only good thing.

Not exactly as described in photos
Just to be clear..the top is not cut out like described in the photos of the advertisement or ad.The actual cutouts in the instructions are what I was expecting, not what I received. I have attached pictures to show the difference.I would say small fish (guppies, platy, FW shrimp, SW clown goby, small wrasses) could go through the top holes. This is a concern for me as I am trying to keep an anemone in this box and they are known to squeeze out of small areas. The center hole in the top of each cut out is close to the size of a dime. That is where I am most concerned about escape. The instructions are decent, but not specific in showing how the tabs are used and what goes where, but it's able to be figured out with a little patience.I do like how sturdy the box is and that it does come with a divider. The suction cups are holding so far, but I would have liked to have seen an actual aquarium magnet in this instead. The top however doesn't seem to want to stay closed in a moderate flow area, so the addition of a clip or latch would be helpful. For a freshwater application, this would be good for breeding and rearing of older fry. Brand new guppy fry would slide right out of the holes in the top and sides. All in all it seems to be a worthwhile product. I will update the review in a few weeks time to see how the box holds up. - 9/12/19

I'm not using properly, lol
I could not find any dividers for my 10 gal tank, but these were the right width, if not height. Only had to drill 2 "breathing" holes larger to match screw hole size, and wallah! The plastic has stayed perfectly clear, but I've had to place mine directly under my filter so I get lots of algae growth on it. I originally just had the filter on one side, but water didn't circulate through the divider. I had to overlap the pieces a bit for my creation, but I think that could be a potential issue of used properly as well (especially if intended for long term or sick fish). Different review said he's keeping a betta in community tank with this and that make me seriously sad for that fish. It's like keeping a dog in a kennel, a fish should get at least 2 gallons to swim around in, preferably more.

Great acrylic fish isolator/acclimator.
Great product. Very carefully machined. Removing the protective cover from the plates does take time. I did not see any instructions but 3 points: the fastening units (16) attach go on the inside with the screws on the outside (I only hand tightened mind, but one could use a small philips screwdriver), the hinges (2) go on the outside with the screws outside and the side plates can only attach to the bottom plate in one orientation. Rather nicely, these plates are snug even before the fastening units are placed. One of the long plates has two additional holes about a quarter down from the top (larger drilled holes) which are for the suction cups which have screw caps which screw in from the inside. Some people may care about where the hinge is placed in reference to the suction cups, so keep that in mind when attaching the top plate hinges (either of these can take the hinges). My suction cups held well. You can actually see the air push out when pressing these so push out as much of the air as you can. Could use this to acclimate or isolate as it will hold several small fish and a few medium fish. Probably a bit small for larger fish- 3 inches or more. Great water flow. The holes in the plates are probably about 1/8 of an inch or perhaps a bit smaller. Obviously this would not be suitable for little baby fish. Made in Britain per the package.
