Great Affordable Croquette set
Without spending too much money and without buying something cheap, this is the perfect mix of both worlds: Affordable and sturdy, good quality. It'll last for years and it looks sleek.

For decorative purposes only.... and not even very good at that
I rate this a horrible purchase, barely functional, and not that great to look at.First off, the look. It is made to look vintage but the finish on it is inconsistent/cheap, and pieces came already scratched and marred.Do not be fooled by this looking like the many other "Amish made" sets yo see for sale here on Amazon, this one is "Made in China" and clearly stickered as such. For functionality, the wheels are to small to roll well, and the washer set up on the axles is inadequate. When the set is rolled, even on smooth/short carpet, the small wheel diameter causes the set to rock, vibrate, and shimmy to where the balls and even the mallets fall out. When you actually try to roll this on grass, you know, where the game of croquet is generally played, the caddy is prone to fall over and the balls and mallets are all over the place. Every 5 feet of progress is halted by having to reassemble everything back onto the caddy. And then after a bit, due to poor axle design, the wheel on one side will over-tighten and seize up.I solved a majority of this by going to the hardware store and buying two larger rubber wheels and axle hardware and replacing everything myself.Another note on assembly: when installing ball holders, use a few drops of Elmers or epoxy to anchor them in, even though the instructions don't say to do so, as they will pop out when it is rolled. The brass/metal hardware on the mallet, to assemble to handle to the head is aesthetically pleasing, but horrendous functionally. First, the set screw on the handle hardware was not flush, and prohibited the handle from even being screwed into the head socket, until I filed them down. Once the brass adze on the handle could be screwed into the socket on the head of the mallet, even when screwed in completely, it was still loose and would jiggle, making the mallet vibrate horribly when striking the ball, and even spin loose/off.It is not fun to play with AT ALL.The only plus is, the wickets are very sturdy, well constructed from heavy gage metal with a nice finish.Even after all my efforts to improve/fix the set, I am sending it back for a refund, as I have no desire to continue trying to fix the issues with the mallets.

Excellent Choice!!!
I bought a set from Walmart and the mallets were too short. This set is good for even the tallest person and very heavy duty! Well worth the money to get your family outside to have some fun. I wasn't sure my family would like to play, but they love it and want to bring it out every chance they get.

Well-made for the price and perfectly adequate
I purchased the "Vintage" version of this set to use when the family came over for Easter, and found it to be well-made for the price and a perfectly fine croquet set. The mallets have metal fittings where the club head and handle come together, the carrying rack is not fine furniture but adequate for its purpose. The wickets were the big surprise; they were industrial strength and could be used on a construction project! The only problem I had was that the six wire fittings that hold the balls were made from a brittle wire, and two of them broke at one of the right angle bends when I was installing them. A little 5-minute epoxy with some thickener tied them back together and I had no further problem. Other than that (pretty easily remedied) shortcoming, I was perfectly satisfied that I got what I paid for.

I wanted to like this in the worst way
The design of this set is great! That's where the positives end. I like the way the cart holds all the balls and mallets. Balls are solid and truthfully are the best part of this set. Typical poor Chinese material and quality control on the rest of the set. Wood is soft and I fear it won't last many seasons. Handles of the mallets have splits, giving a poop playing experience. One mallet was missing a screw holding the metal threaded end on, so I had to drill it and add my own.Would be fun for kids, but I don't think it would last. I guess I will just have to use these as templates and turn my own on my lathe. :(

it is a very nice croquet set for the price
This review is for the Vintage Croquet Set...it is a very nice croquet set for the price. The mallots are long enough for adults and are heavy enough for a good swing. The balls molded and are a good weight to play with they will nick a bit. I did not want to pay over $400. for a croquet set so this is a very good alternative. I am happy with this purchase , the family has played several times and it has been great fun. Only negative is we did have to modify one of the wheel assembly to get it on properly. The mallets have inserts so they went together with no problems.

CHEAP!!!!
I highly recommend that you do NOT purchase this game set. Yes, it gives the image of vintage but it is so cheaply made it’s ridiculous how much they are charging you. First the set holder came broken (but seemed like a simple fix versus sending the whole thing back). But once we started playing we could see just how cheap it is. The mallets head comes loose with every shot. Because there is no rubber pieces on the mallet you can see each time the ball is hit because it leaves a nice crack/indentation in the wood. Honestly, the only thing quality about the set are the hoops as they are a hardy metal and the balls. Beware the handle of the mallet as you can also get a nice slicer from the cheap wood!!

Quaint, but not well designed.
Loved the look, but the stand does no function well. It does not roll well at all. The makers are difficult to get into place. The stand was broken in arrival, not packed well. My husband modified the stand after the repair work. It works a bit better, but overall not pleased with it. Still love the look, i wish it worked better. FYI, if you order one, allow 3 months before you use it. If it arrives broken, the replacement may not arrive in time. We ordered in plenty time for our event, but the replacement for the broken one would have arrived a month later.

Stand difficult to assemble sturdily
In hindsight I should have foreseen that the stand probably wouldn’t arrive assembled, but I don’t think anyone would have expected how challenging it is to put together sturdily. Even after quite a bit of effort I didn’t manage it, and now have a pile of lumber on the corner of the room, a giant black and blue bruise, and a gash to show for it. I think it could be salvaged with some tinkering and metal braces added to reinforce the angles, but if you aren’t equipped for light carpentry I would maybe not recommend this set. That aside, the rest of it seems of ok quality, and the mallets are nice and tall, and the wickets very sturdy. There was a manufacturing error with one of the pieces in my kit, and the company mailed me a replacement piece straight away at no extra cost.

not bad but too expensive for this quality
The mallets aren't very durable or precision made or heavy enough. Otherwise, not bad but too expensive for this quality.

Horrible quality. Don’t buy!!!
Bad quality. Broken. So disappointing
User
Disappointed
Arrived partly assembled and broken. Someone clearly had already returned. By the time I had opened, it was too late to return
