Would not recommend - and Peugeot Customer Service is horrible.
I started using it and after a few times, the salt would get all cloggy and not drop, even in the higher setting. I made sure I used the salts that Peugeot recommends (Himalayan salt for example), as this DOES NOT WORK with natural sea salt, as even with the tiniest bit of humidity everything seems to get stuck. After I tried a few tricks and none worked, I contacted Peugeot customer service and that's when the fun began. It took them weeks to respond, and after they did they asked for a video and a photo of the salt I used. I sent everything, and I have not yet received a response - it's been over 4 months... With a few follow-up emails on my end. Nothing. This kind of "customer service" is completely unacceptable, especially for products of this price range. Also, I expected a sturdier construction that is supposed to last a lifetime, but, of course, the bottom part is all plastic. I would not recommend - a cheaper mill does a much better job.

The best, very easy adjustment, consistent result
A quality item. Functions just as it should. We still have two of the original little dumpies bought in Belgium 40 years ago. Comes with pepper corns inside and it holds a lot of pepper. Like always the top nut needs the ocasional twist. We have for many years used a competitors mill of the same style on which the screw remains tight and the grind adjustment is at the bottom. The Peugeot mill is the better performer.

Worth every penny
I feel this is the start of a lifelong, beautiful relationship.Perhaps you're wondering whehter you can really justify spending this much on a pepper grinder? My advice: just do it. I've spent decades living with disappointing pepper grinders that cost not much less than this (though they may have been bigger) and either fail after a year or two or never even grind that well to start with. I've had ceramic, metal and plastic mills (the plastic was actually the best). It's really astonishing how much you can spend on a pepper grinder and still get a piece of crap, frankly. But Pergeot have produced a seriously well-engineered mill (as they have been doing since the 19th century!). I love the 6-level grind adjuster on the bottom. And the wood is beautifully finished - feels like silk in the hands. Every use is a pleasure.Ergonomically, it's a tad small - you might want to consider the next size up if your budget stretches to it.Oh yes, and it comes with free peppercorns :)

Appalling packaging!
Bought this for Xmas present for my son who likes to cook when home on leave. So disappointed with packaging - an open ended thin plastic sleeve which wasn’t secured and as a result item was loose in box with other purchases. After reading poor reviews for other pepper mills decided to pay a bit more and buy this higher end product. I would have expected a nice presentation box or at least some bubble wrap and tissue at the very least!Just hope it works..........

Brilliant and robust
Over the past 40 years I've had several salt and pepper mills and these Peugeot ones are by far the best. The steel grinder can be set at 6 different levels of grinding from very fine to very coarse. I was dubious about how effective the mills were so I bought only one to begin with but it wasn't long before I bought the second.

Could be better.
Disappointed that it does not work on the lower/finer settings and this is a replacement as the first mill I received did not work at all. Fair play to Amazon who provided a replacement. I think it might have been better to get a mill which had a fixed setting. If you prefer having larger salt crystals then it is quite good.

Bottom Line - it doesn't work!
So after years of substandard pepper griders not working, we thought we would treat ourselves to a Rolls-Royce!Bad decision - it's the worst of the lot, no matter what setting we put it on. Given that I assume most/all grinders use the same or similar mechanism, it's really poor.I don't believe i'm using the wrong peppercorns - so unless it's a faulty one, I can only assume the manufacturer's have never tested it.Don't buy - go back to a Mini!

Best on the market
Had one of these for years and wore it out! I love the different grades of pepper from fine to really coarse.
